Wrong....Allen is a better player. Period.

let me just say this,

Ray Allen was/is the best pure shooter in the league.

try filling in the blank:

Paul Peirce was/is the best _________ in the league.

...hope it helps.
i KNOW you aren't trying to make an Allen > Pierce argument with this right? it's just HOF probability right?

if so you're correct because, as we know all too well, getting into the HOF has little to do with how good you actually were.

Who is in the Basketball Hall of Fame who shouldn't be in your opinion?

---

On whether Ray Allen or Paul Pierce will be HOFers:

According to databasebasketball.com, Ray Allen has a 108 score and to be likely inducted you need a score of 135. They use the history of inductees as the basis of the mathematical formula. Paul Pierce has a score of 113.

A similar website, basketball-reference.com does their HOF monitor by percentages. Allen is at a .699 chance if he retired today. Pierce has a .773 chance.

Looks like both of them would have a tough time making it in if they retired today. Assuming their careers finish up predictably, I'd think they'd be borderline inductees. A title for either would make for a much stronger case.

If it were up to me neither would get in. But sadly its not.

Ray Allen probably has the best shot depending on how the rest of their careers go.

I agree with the ones who say Ray Allen will get in before Pierce. But, and I am a huge Ray Allen supporter ( my favourite player), Paul Pierce is better. Obviously Ray is an amazing shooter, better than Pierce, but Pierce is overall better at everything compared to Ray, hands down I would start my team with Pierce over Ray ( given the option). But that wasn't the question...so never mind.

Pierce is my favorite player, but his defense is overrated. He's not the same slender, quick guy he was coming out of Kansas. Nowadays he's average, maybe slightly above if he's feeling it on a given night.

My point about the Basketball HOF is that it isn't nearly as selective as the other HOF. The biggest thing is that if you hit certain statistical milestones you are almost assuredly guarenteed a sopt sooner or later. If both Pierce and Allen continue to play at their current level, both will probably get to or near 10 AS games(Pierce is at 5, Allen is at 7)and score well over 20,000pts(Pierce is at 15k and Ray Allen is at almost 17k). Can someone please tell me how many players with 10 AS and more then 20,000pts didn't make the hall.
