he did appear at times to be out of rhythm, particularly with his jump shot and at the foul line,
How do you tell that he was out of rhythm when he wasn't hitting it last year?

[QUOTE] Jazz coach Quin Snyder needs Joe Johnson to play mostly wing minutes now because of injuries to Gordon Hayward (finger) and Alec Burks (knee), but the 35-year-old veteran will likely see time as a power forward in a small-ball lineup, too.

Boris Diaw is the perfect veteran to have on this team. He is a wonderful leader and will provide fantastic depth. However, his scoring has been extremely limited in eight preseason and regular season Jazz games. Lyles may need to provide more of a scoring role as a backup big than many anticipated during preseason. Diaw has attempted a total of nine shots in the first two games, making one (11%).
Need to play Withey, Beto and Bolomboy if they aren't getting it done. Simple as that.

Bolomboy, who impressed the Jazz enough to sign a three-year deal this offseason, had a nice statistical line for a player who only logged four minutes and eight seconds: three points, one rebound, one assist, one blocked shot and one steal.
As far as I'm concerned the supposedly genius coach needs to give him, Neto and Withey a chance. Exum, Diaw and Lyles are stinking up the place. Don't care about their potential if they are losing games.

Rodney Hood and Joe Johnson are probably best from mid-range, and run off wing pick and rolls looking specifically to get those shots and floaters.
Joe is one of the best ever from 3

the Jazz's offense has to start shooting the open 3-point shots that they get. That's especially true for the Jazz's spacing players, Trey Lyles, Joe Ingles, Diaw, and Exum. Too frequently, those players are turning down relatively-open 3-point attempts to try to force things inside, playing directly into the teeth of the opposing team's rim protection. Just shoot the ball.
You could see not guarding Exum at the 3 was part of their game plan. Until he shows he can hit it he be wide open

    2. Jazz's power forward rotation problems
The problem is that the coach keeps playing them. Exum and Lyles should spend time in the D-league until they are ready to bring it every night. Diaw might be done?

I'd like to see more Neto and Exum, but Snyder's decision is hard here because it's only game three of the season. Given that Mack helped the Jazz significantly last year, do you give him much more time to figure out how he can make himself a useful player in a backup role? Or are these games too important now to waste on finding out the answer to that question? I might start with an in-between solution: keep Mack on the court, but have the ball in the hands of Exum and Ingles more often.
Mack should start next to Jill as far as I'm concerned. Certainly looked like one of their best players since February. They don't seem to worried about wasting minutes on others. When do we see the coach's genius?

These are among the many excuses circulating to calm the very justifiable anxiety surrounding the Utah Jazz and their fans who may be feeling a little on edge after two losses and a closer than predicted win over a mediocre Lakers team in their first three contests of the 2016-17 season.
Excuses seem to be the one thing the Jazz are good at. Getting old!
