Not that I disagree, but NYK actually paid Melo ~$100M of his deal last summer. His cap hit is massive for next 4 years, but the vast majority of the money has been paid already, per reports. The payment schedule varies widely player-to-player.

I however wouldn't want the nearly $25M annual cap hit for Melo for 4 more years if his knee becomes a long term concern...
