WTF is Sookie? I know sheis telepathic but she can also thow chains around people's necks and make it choke them as well as thow people 50 feet in the air...WTF???

I am thinking they are going to keep this a mistery the entire first season...

I am really liking the show thus far. Some really deep themes being explored and interesting takes on what had become a stale, recycled topic (vampires).

As for your question, she did throw that chain around dude's neck, but I don't think that necessarily denoted any kind of superpower. As for her throwing the guy... that is what I thought at first, too. After closer inspection, the moment she grabs the guy's leg, he is blind-sided by Bill.

I think she is just telepathic.

    is the Bartender the dog???

she has never tried to read his mind, and he is always looking after her. Bill said that some vampires are able to shape-shift. I am thinking that the Bartender is a vampire who changes into that dog when he wants to look out for Sookie...???

also I think there is a picture in his office of a dog protecting a girl...

Yep... I was thinking the same thing. I do think that Sam (the Bartender) is both a vampire and the dog...

He owns a bar and only seems to work at night. When they were in his office discussing her telepathic ability, he said that if she tried to read his mind, 'she might be surprised at what she finds.'

Another thing... in the first episode, Bill orders some synthetic blood at the bar and Sookie tells him that Sam had ordered some, but they didn't get any vampires, so it went bad and Sam got rid of it. I'm thinking that order was for him.

Definitely some intriguing subplots. That bald vampire with the tattoos is one freaky mofo.

Anna Paquin definitely has that 'something' extra... Major sex appeal. It doesn't hurt that she has a rockin body.

I thought I remembered that, too. Wasn't there a bunch of people around at the time and she was getting telepathy from all directions?

Again, though... I think the series is trying to portray all vampires as uniquely different... not all the same. Some can change forms... some can't. Some are evil... some aren't.

Just because she can't read Bill's mind doesn't necessarily mean that this applies to all vampires.

I watched the first two shows...I like the concept....I'm not crazy about the setting in the Deep South setting, but I guess that plays up the fear factor of the vampires......it might easier and cheaper to film in that type of location, a small town setting, as opposed to an L.A. or N.Y.....
