Default Does this make sense for Philly?

    Draft Simmons at #1
Trade Okafor to Boston for #3
    Draft Hield at #3

    Projected line-up:

    PG: Smith/McConnell/Marshall
    SG: Hield/Stauskas/Canaan
    SF: Covington/Grant
    PF: Simmons/Saric/Landry
C: Embiid (if healthy) / Noel

    That's a good team in 2-3 years.

One little weakness in that plan

I'm guessing Boston might offer one or more of their gazillion picks as well.

Not not at all. First of all most of the roster you see listed there won't be back in Philly. Smith is a goner for sure and McConnell and Marshall aren't likely to be there either.

I don't like Okafor but he's worth a lot more than the third pick in this draft. He's fat and slow and can't rebound that well but he's better than anything in this draft not named Ben Simmons. He's also insurance for Embiid. If Embiid is healthy, I wouldn't expect him to play any more than 20 minutes a game and I'm pretty sure that they've already said that he'll sit out back to backs if he even plays.

Hield at 3? Hield is an undersized chucker who has difficulty turning the corner on people at the NCAA level. He can shoot but I'm not sure that with his handle and quickness that he'll be able to get his shot off at the NBA level very easily. In the last 15 years of the draft there have been a grand total of 0 seniors drafted in the top five who panned out to be high impact players. The only exception would be Lillard and he was drafted sixth. So I'm not saying Hield is awful and all of this, I'm just saying that he has a lower upside and I'm not wowed about his quickness or defensive potential at the NBA level. Maybe he's the exception but he's not worth Okafor to me. Not even close, and I'm not in love with Okafor at all. I'm not against trading Okafor but there is no need to rush any of this. None at all.

I don't think the sixers are looking to add another pick they already hinted at trading the Lakers pick had it fell to them. If they were going to trade for the 3rd pick I would assume the guy they would trade is Noel because Okafor is alot more talented than anyone who will be available at 3.

I will choose a stan base wherever Simmons goes but I would love to see him in Philly with all the bigs they drafted

Saric, Okafor, Noel, and Embiid. All on the same team with Simmons. Whoever underperforms with Simmons, trade them the next season. It would be stupid to trade a player before you get to see how they play with Simmons on the floor. He makes the game easier for everyone.

Plus why would you trade Okafor? He's going to make a huge sophomore leap

Sure, it makes sense if they want to continue tanking for years to come.

    Hahahahaha NO.

You underestimate Okafor and overestimate Hield very badly.
