Re: 17 year old Duke recruit can reach top of backboard
Can't those vertical sticks be adjusted? I mean he's tall and long and his reach is pretty high but these things can get blown out of proportion sometimes. That rim has clearly been lowered (if people are using that as a reference). I've seen plenty of guys reach the upper levels of the vertical sticks.

See. This video shows that while he can get up, he is not a sudden, explosive leaper like a DJ or Howard. I am always hesitant to put too much stock on these max vertical numbers because most NBA players can get up if you give them a head start and they will give you at least 30" and closer to 35". What's more important is standing vertical and natural fluidity and agility.

doesn't look like the top of the backboard to me. from this camera angle it looks a bit like it but to me that measuring instrument does not seem to be as high as the top of the backboard.

Check this out to see true, Westbrook/Laine type, off the charts athleticism. This is what you call explosion.

If you can't get your dick above the rim then it don't matter.

Did not look like he went to a private school. Kids he played against looked... normal.

Re: 17 year old Duke recruit can reach top of backboard
How tall is this guy? Sorry, but it doesn't look as if these sticks get as high as the top of the backboard (if this is a normal height backboard and rim, that is - which is far from sure, unless the person standing on the left is significantly tall himself, say, 6'6 or so), looks like the camera angle distorts perception.
If he can get that high and looks for publicity, why not try against a real backboard instead of trying to reach some bars that nobody can tell how high they really are? Is there a uniformal, invariable upper height for them which is always 13 feet?

damn impressive
youtube people comparing him to KD. reminds me more of Stanley Johnson, but with the ability to finish with a dunk instead of a lay-up/jumpshot/floater. then again, his competition looks kinda weak. definitely going to pay attention to this guy next season.
