It's time for a new basketball league

Handchecking allowed

No defensive 3 second

Physical contact allowed 'as part of rules'

Strict carry and travel rules

We can talk about getting rid of 3 point line
What do you say?
It would not have the same 'athletes' as the NBA but it could have guys like Jimmer, guys like Hayward, those guys who don't make the NBA but are really really good players in college and overseas.
I would watch it
F... the NBA let someone bring back the ABA.

Sounds like the NBA's version of the XFL.

The NBA has already turned into the XFL, but softer!

Re: It's time for a new basketball league
Why not put the whole thing in a cage and allow any contact?
Call it the UMFBA ("Ultimate Manly Fighting Basketball Association").
Players can beat each other up as much as they like.
A 3-point-line exists, but anybody who hits a 3-pointer is immediately disqualified for life. Zone defense is forbidden.
Whining to the ref leads to immediate ejection. Flopping as well. Every team can designate a superstar, who is allowed to carry and use a club. Players who are not good enough are not sent to a sissy development league but instead shipped off to North Korea.
Oh, and players with chest hair shorter than 7 cm should be immediately disqualified for life, too.

Please clap.

Yeah take away threes, that would be great for Jimmer.

Re: It's time for a new basketball league
I like the idea. As much as I don't want the 3, I would keep it. Maybe experiment for one season with no 3pter's. Real basketball by the rule book. Yeah, no traveling, no favoritism. Physical contact doesn't mean fighting and hurting people. It means contact by the rules...handchecking, positioning, the way the NBA used to be. Would something like this have a big enough fanbase? Am sure it would struggle at first. The league has to make money somehow to stay afloat and attract fans. What are D-league contracts like? How much do they make there? I wish this could happen.

hahaha..that's exactly what's wrong with the nba today..it's all a gimmick now. The entertainment factor has eaten and digested the real basketball out of the league.

Sounds like it would suck to watch. Are you going to add in illegal D? Because otherwise every game will end up 65-59

Re: It's time for a new basketball league
Then it would be getting away from the inherent goal of basketball as a game of using finesse to avoid contact
