My question is this.....

All the players from the first list are placed into a draft.

How many of the first list would you happily swap out for your pick of the second list to replace them?

If thats unclear....

How many 10 time all stars would you kick out of the draft.....for any 1 time all star you want?

Doesnt mean you get him....but hes a player in the pool you potentially could get to draft.

Obviously Dolph Schayes and Hal Greer would go because you barely know who they are and they played tens of thousands of years ago.....you probably drop Cousy for similar reasons. Im sure someones gonna argue Russell too. Whatever. Im not here to judge you for being disrespectful of history. I dont care at the moment.

You are the GM of a team in 2019......you dont yet know draft order. You are only picking the participants. Who from list 1 do you kick out.....and replace with someone from list 2? And who gets their spot?

In all honesty....I think im kicking like 10 of those dudes out of there. Im not 100% sure who id take from list #2 yet.....but I suspect Derrick Coleman, Googs, Ron Artest and Kenny Anderson get the big promotion.

I'll give specifics later.

Anyone dropping Carmelo? I feel like Melo and Iverson may have haters enough to get kicked out for some one year wonder from 1992.

If I limit it to players ive actually seen the primes of....

29 Chris Bosh 11 11 0
35 Carmelo Anthony 10 1
9 Karl Malone 14 14 0

All come under consideration. As any long time poster knows I didnt **** with Chris Bosh as far back as 2005 so I wouldnt mind swapping him for some of those names. Mcdyess if healthy is gonna get me about the same talent.

I feel like I can justify Derrick Coleman, Ron Artest, and Jokic in some of those spots too. Obviously the big red flag is Karl but....people were mad when I said id take Dirk over Karl Malone in like 2006 too. Its not inconceivable that Jocic would be more useful in 2019. Hes not who id remove first when we have 50s guys to contend with....but....Karl vs my pick of those 1 all star guys?

I mean...if I could keep Derrick Coleman healthy...

The league is kinda going towards that more than towards Karl Malone isnt it?

Not to say Karl wouldnt adjust and still be great. He would. But given a health guarantee...and knowing Karl Malone is a dirty piece of shit on top of his other issues?

I think....id put Coleman in that draft over him.

I get why you would take issue with it....but its my draft. Im not looking for him to be in it when ive got other superstar 4 options.

Artest vs Melo is obviously a defensive thing. But its not a lock I take Artest. Id have to talk it over with someone at least....

Is the draft for one season or we drafting all them at the starts of their careers? To me the nicest of the one timers are Andre Iguodala, Dale Ellis, Kirelinko, and Gerald Wallace. I donít think any of those guys are gonna dethrone any of the 10 time all stars though.

Dale Ellis would be nasty today. And while im not on the "Melo was never great" bandwaggon at all......

If you offer me peak AK47 or Melo....

Id at least have to sit down with the coach and hear his opinion wouldnt I?

I couldnt dismiss it out of hand. Same for Iggy.

Melo is better as the man on a bad team. Iggy in his prime on a team with talent?

I uh....I need a look at the team right?

You would add prime Iggy to say....the Rockets...over prime Melo right?

You could get 100% of what Iggy has to offer on that team. You would get Melo trying to get in where he could and seeing whos team it is. Iggy would be plug and play.

That is pretty much my reasoning 100%. Peak AK was nasty...for one year on most contenders I would go with him over Melo. If we are talking about an average team over 10 then you you go with Melo. Not saying 10 years of Melo will be all sunshine and daisies but you will probably get farther than the alternative.

The only thing that stopped Malone from being ranked top 10 based on his resume was Jordan.

He wins titles in both 97 and 98 and was absolutely dominant in those years, on an all-time great level.

Im gonna have to ask the same question I probably asked you when you said that back in the day.....

When ive seen you lose 17 times to other people why should I assume you would automatically win if not for Jordan?

Tom Chambers knocked him out of the playoffs on a 55 win team. Thurl Baileys soft ass was going harder than Karl some of those times.

Im not sure a Karl Malone vs Reggie finals goes Karls way. Im not a fan of either but I trust Reggie to show out more than I trust Karl. In 97 its what? The Heat? Eh.

I wouldnt bet much on Karl Malone to win any finals. Its not impossible of course....but I saw that guy lose an awful lot to just pencil in 2 rings because Jordan isnt there. Brian Grant roughed him up when Jordan retired...he went out scoring like 6 points vs the Blazers as the MVP. Maybe more than that but something along those lines. I distinctly remember someone telling me Dirk didnt do any better vs the Warriors when we argued the two in 07.

I feel like Karl Malone the basketball player gets unfairly docked today because he got a 13-year old pregnant. That has NOTHING to do with him playing basketball.
Sure, we all know about his perceived shortcomings in the playoffs, but we did back in the 90s too. And he was considered THE consensus best PF, even over Barkley, until the Duncan/Garnett/Dirk era.

While his personal issues take from people opinion of him.....his status as GOAT 4 was never a "No 4 has been as good" thing. It was a longevity thing. He wasnt widely considered better than Barkley when they were both going strong. Some had him....more had Barkley. He got that best 4 status in the very late 90s and lost it by 2003. He might have held that tag for 6 years.
