Default Has the gap between West/East gotten even bigger this offseason?

Both of the stars of the draft (Towns, Russell), went to the West. No major free agents left from the West to the East.

Overall with the way things are shaping up, the West just looks stupid stacked.

Say Aldridge goes to Spurs, you have the top 3 teams in the league in one conference. Warriors, Spurs, Thunder.

Then from there you have the Mavericks, Rockets, Grizzlies in the second tier, and then in the third tier, you have a shitload of great teams fighting for the final two spots. The Clippers, Suns, Pelicans, Blazers, etc.

For the future you have the Pelicans and T'Wolves looking deadly. Then the Jazz, Lakers, Blazers, all look on the up.

Seems like the West is becoming even harder to reach the playoffs in. Teams might have to hit 55 wins just to feel safe getting in.

Please add the Sacramento Kings to the contenders list.

    they do though.

Sounds funny but you compare the West's trash to the East's trash and the gap is the same as it is with the top teams.

Assuming all teams are healthy, Cleveland gets ROFLstomped by one of GS, SA, OKC in the Finals, and then looking at the rest of the East, which teams would even make the playoffs out West? Maybe the Hawks, who would just be a first round exit?

I never was a fan of the playoff reformatting because of rivalries and shit but with each year passing it's clear that something needs to change.

The Jazz definitely look like they can be on the come up. They just need a good back court. How many young front courts are going to compete with Gobert/Favors/Hayward ? They were 1st in points allowed last year, thats a great start for a young overall team.

Not happening unless Cleveland has injury issues again... and OKC has had even more consistent injury issues.

Have one, they'd be a shoe-in for the playoffs out in the East.

Probably shouldn't have included them in that list, but the point still stands

IMO the East is slightly better than the West now

Right now, they wouldn't be a shoe-in in the d-league.

Towns and Russell don't make the gap bigger at this point though, their teams are both shit. The Bucks are trending their way up and look to be elite in a couple years, and the Magic are getting better.

It doesn't help that the two NYC teams in the world's biggest market are dogshit, they should be carrying the EC banner.

But yeah the WC will be a total dogfight yet again, we'll likely see another 50 win team miss out on the playoffs.
