Default What should 76ers starting lineup be?

CSN Philly reports:

Fourth-year player Jrue Holiday will be the starting point guard. Andrew Bynum will be the starting center and Evan Turner will be on the floor. After that, the Sixers’ opening night lineup becomes a puzzle that is fun to try and solve.

One option is to play Turner at the small forward position, which had he not been teammates with Iguodala the past two seasons, would have likely been his regular spot for the team. That opens the shooting guard position for 11-year veteran Jason Richardson, who has started 794 of the 805 games he has played in his pro career. Richardson averaged 11.6 points in 30 minutes a night for the Magic last season.

Nick Young could give Richardson a run for his money as the starting shooting guard. However, when the Sixers signed Young this summer they viewed him as a replacement for Lou Williams, who was entrenched as the team's sixth man under the Doug Collins regime.

Holiday
Nick Young
Turner
Lavoy Allen
Bynum

I think they'll start this lineup the most, but they'll play the guys according to the matchups they are facing.

Holiday
Turner
J-Rich
Hawes or Allen
Bynum

Nick Young is better as a 6th man and Dorell Wright should be used as a scorer off the bench.

Turner is not big enough to play SF

J-Rich is not tall enough to play SF

and D-Wright is not starting material

Solution: Trade J-Rich for a true starting SF... but I don't know which one

Turner and J-Rich will be fine starting on the wings.

Evan isn't the 205 he's listed at. He's not huge, probably around 220, but he's pit on a ton of mass since entering the league. He can't guard those 240+ forwards in the post but they can't guard him laterally on defense either. He's stronger than Iggy, less athletic. He'll be fine except against those guys that pretty much nobody can guard.

He was if he plays at the level he did with the Warriors in his first season. Otherwise hell no.

Default Re: What should 76ers starting lineup be?

PG: Jrue Holiday
SG: Jason Richardson
SF: Dorrel Wright
PF: LaVoy Allen
C: Andrew Bynum

I think that Turner would do a pretty good job off the bench this year, because we do not really have a backup PG now since Lou is gone.

Nick Young can fill up the SG spot pretty well off of the bench.

Thad Young is excellent backup at the SF, he has a great dribble game, post too. He can also play some PF if he needs to.

Hawes is probably going to be the main PF/C backup. He has a great outside game, but that post needs to get better.

May I simply ask this. WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU SMOKING!?

1) Both Turner and Jason Richardson are adequate sized for SF.

2) Dorrel Wright is PERFECT starting material.
