Default Insert NBA Player X onto his alma mater...

I was thinking about this hypothetical situation. Gilbert Arenas once said he would torch Duke for 80 points because of a beef with Coach K. If the current Arenas could be transplanted onto Arizona in place of Bayless (same position), could Arizona win the NCAA tournament. For any NBA player, if you insert him and only him onto a college team, how much better would he make that team. One can look at Kevin Durant as a measuring stick since he's essentially the same player now that he was in college, and he carried Texas to the 2nd round of the tournament. We can look at superstars (Arenas, Baron Davis, etc.), stars (Josh Howard, Joe Johnson, etc.) and role players. High school players are exempt.

Well, I think he could torch them, but not for 80. There is a reason people like College more, and thats because of defense. Once Arenas gets hot, he isn't going to pass the ball. Then all of a sudden you have 12 players interchangably playing zone to stop him. I can see him getting 60+ but I don't quite know about 80.

With the Zone D they play in the NCAA Gilbert would likely need a 100 shots to get 80 points. His game really doesn't improve that much in a NCAA scenario.
They are used to checking volume outside shooters like Gil at that level.

A NBA big (Dwight, Yao, Bosh) would be much more of a mismatch due to the lack of size/athleticism/skill combo of most collage front courts. The same would apply for physically dominate wing players (Lebron, Josh Smith) that would be two levels above the still physically immature kids trying to guard them.

someone like Dwight would be more effective, no one, absolutely no one would be able to stop him down low, he would have like 25 dunks per game.

My only concern would be the 5 fouls, and tendancy for officals to play more of a role in deciding the games. See Oden and Hibbert in the finals last year.
