Considering he's listed as and plays PF...absolutely there is doubt.

Dude is a monster. Never thought he'd be this good this soon. The way I see it Davis needs two things to maximize his potential, obviously aside from a better coach than Monty Williams...

    1) A mobile, athletic, but still decently strong paint protecting center like a Deandre Jordan or a bigger Ibaka if that player comes around. Davis is similar to KG in that he's got an unreal level of agility, body control, quickness and explosiveness for his height/length, to go with guard-like footwork, awareness and instincts in his game where he can block shots at the rim or step out and guard basically anyone - for stretches - aside from the truly elite PGs..just an all over the court defensive nightmare..having someone like DJ or Ibaka who can camp out behind him protecting the rim at all times, would really help Davis harness the full extent of his versatility. Asik is helping a lot in this regard, but the dude is gonna be 29 after this season while Davis could be like 7-8 years from his peak. NO should definitely keep their eye out for any semblance of a high upside young defensive big man.

    2) A well-rounded point guard who can do everything a point guard needs to do..maybe nothing at an elite level, but can do everything at a solid to good to great level. Conley comes immediately to mind here. Someone who can handle, attack, shoot, do all the things to keep the defense honest as a scorer, but is also highly unselfish and gifted passer to find Davis in his spots. Someone who is great at controlling the tempo of the game, great poise, clutch, has no discernible skill weakness, just a rock at the position.

I just have this feeling that a lot of Davis' best years, even if it's not directly in his prime like right now, are gonna be wasted. The WC is an absolute nightmare, and they are completely outmatched in terms of coaching, talent, but moreso how that talent fits together, etc. When you're in a conference competing with cores like KD-Westbrook-Ibaka, Curry-Thompson-Iggy-Bogut, CP3-Blake-DJ, Lillard-Aldridge-Matthews-Batum, the Spurs machine, Harden-Dwight, Zbo-Gasol-Conley, Dirk-Rondo-Ellis-Parsons ( ), etc...you need some high level firepower and top notch coaching to even compete, let alone win anything of value.

I think Anthony Davis is going to be the monster that everyone fears in the West in the coming years, so I don't think he'll waste any time. Having a guy like him to build around pretty much does the work for the organization.

Here's the thing about people who rave about AD being some revolutionary player with an unprecedented skillset -- there HAS been a precedent.

Enter a young David Robinson. Maybe the most athletic big man ever, up there with Wilt and a few others. Ran the floor, could be a force in transition, had a nice post game, was dominant inside and even a good mid-range jumper. Crashed the offensive boards, was regularly top 10 in both blocks AND steals, and was game-changing defender. Single-handedly made his team respectable (21 wins to 56, anyone?)

    Sound familiar?

Only, D-Rob was arguably better defensively, better passer and AT LEAST equal as an athlete (if we're that's being kind to AD). What does AD have over him? More range, I guess. But not a whole lot else. And don't forget, even with his diverse skillset, D-Rob fizzled in the postseason a few too many times for some peoples liking.

AD could be the best player in the game one day, and he's absolutely a BEAST, but let's not be too quick to anoint him.

Jrue is just as good as Conley, and he's younger. Davis needs a legit star next to him if he wants to win anything. He should force his way onto the Cavs.
