Exclamation MJ beating 90' Pistons except for Pip migraine > Lebron beating 18' Celts

90' Pistons were way better than the 18' Celtics... ..

    So MJ's 1990 run > Lebron's 2018 run...

Everyone acknowledges that if MJ had made 90' Finals, it would've been a goat carry-job

    Jordan 1990 Playoffs... 37/7/7.. 29.0 gamescore
    Lebron 2018 Playoffs... 34/9/9.. 28.2 gamescore

    answer the question!
Young Jordan had a completely accolade-less cast until 1990 - that means no all-star teammates, no all-defender teammates, weak team defense, weak coach.

Otoh, Lebron's 06' and 07' casts had an all-star center, a 22/5/5 first-team defender, a top 5 team defense, and the future coach of the year - so a decorated cast compared the Jordan's accolade-less cast.

Consequently, the Cavs were the 4 seed and 2 seed in 06/07, while Jordan's accolade-less cast was the 8 seed from 85-87'..

Young Jordan's low seeds compare better to Lebron's 9 seeds in 2005, not his much-improved high seeds from 06-18'.. lebron and all-star Zydrunas were the 9 seed in 05', and needed to add a 22/5/5 all-defender and future COY to get high seeds in 06' and 07'.. then they added additional all-stars Mo and Jamison in 09/10, while Varejao became all-defense..

Essentially, Lebron's 06-10' casts were FAR better than MJ's lottery casts, which is why Lebron got high seeds despite weaker stats (lebron's 06-10' stats are much worse than 85-89' MJ's)

But most importantly, young Jordan didn't dominate the ball

The only times he dominated the ball was the 86' Playoffs when Coach Albeck put the ball in his hands once he was cleared to play full minutes (MJ was coming off major injury and had missed most of the season)..

And yes - in this capacity as ball-dominator, MJ played better than lebron ever did (44/6/6 on 50% and 63 point playoff scoring record)

The only other time he dominated the ball was the end of the 1989 season when Collins started MJ at PG.. Once again, MJ played better than Lebron ever did (30/9/11 for 24 games at PG including stretch of 10 triple-doubles in 11 games).. In the playoffs, MJ led his underdog 6 seed to upset wins over the #1 SRS Cavs and their 4 stars (a better team than Lebron faced in the 11-18' Eastern Conference).. MJ's 89' run to the ECF was a bigger carry-job than Lebron ever did, with a worse cast than Lebron ever had (accolade-less cast)

    '90 playoffs
    Pippen - 19/7/7/3 on 50 FG%
    Grant - 12/10/3/1 on 51 FG%

    '18 playoffs
    Love - 15/10 on 39 FG%
    Hill - 9/2/2 on 45 FG%

MJ had 100x the help LeBron did in 2018, we have never seen a carry job like 2018. The only player on the Cavs besides LeBron that averaged double figures in points was K. Love who shot 39%.

Let me first state the obvious:

Lebron missed his 2nd option for a couple games, but Boston was missing their #1 option for the whole series.

And who the f*ck is 2018 Boston anyway?.. the dynasty Pistons are obviously much better

    Now the not-so-obvious:

The 89' Cavs (#1 SRS) were far superior to the 18' Celtics, and MJ averaged 40/6/8 to beat them as a big underdog - that's far better than lebron getting 33/9/8 to beat the garbage celts AS THE FAVORITE.. no comparison...

The 89' Cavs and their 3 perennial all-stars (plus 20/5/5 Ron Harper) were infact better than any team Lebron faced in his Eastern Playoffs career, and MJ beat them with no cast as a massive underdog.. that trumps anything lebron ever did in the East

And consider that lebron had a ready-made perennial all-star that he reduced to rubble (Love), so he could barely beat the puppy Celts..... while MJ was elevating a 3rd year Ingram-level player, so he was all-but beating a dynasty... And of course, MJ's stats were superior (see the OP)..

Lebron didn't carry as much as MJ because MJ was beating the champs, while Lebron beat nobodies

Also, Lebron's cast was better - 90' pippen and love are similar caliber except Love didn't fit with Lebron's narrow skillset, and Green/Hill/JR/Tristan destroy the guys MJ had in 90'

Love averaged 17.6 PPG on a career high 61.4 TS% in the 2018 regular season. That’s 22.7 PTS per 36 minutes. How is it LeBron’s fault Love was hurt and choked in the playoffs?

it's funny that you guys are lebron fans but conveniently forget big things about his career..

Lebron's brand doesn't get exposed until the playoffs, similar to other guys like cp3, Nash, or Gianni's

it's no surprise that the weak chemistry of lebron/love got exposed/didn't work in the playoffs... heck, what team can't defend love as a spot-up shooter lol

Lebron got swept in the Finals and went 7 games multiple times. Jordan went 10 - 6 in the Playoffs(62.5%), Lebron 12 - 10(54.5%), Jordan had two double-digit losses, Lebron had 8.
