NFL is the most popular league in the US and then you have the fact that being 1 game show, the winner takes it all creates an inviting atmosphere.
Being one game you can't make mistakes or have an off night, in a NBA series you can have 3 horrible games and still wins it.

LOL thats still more white guys for the casual fan to relate to than the NBA when 1 token white guy on each team if that. Mostly not even American/White they are European White. The NBA is all black and just now barely stealing fans over Baseball which is still more popular.
