Default Michael Jordan Greatest Games: Triple-Double (35/10/10) vs Portland (1990)

Phenomenal game by MJ from February of 89/90 regular season against that years finalist Portland Trail Blazers who played this game without their star Clyde Drexler.

Michael Jordan put on a show with 35 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists on 12/25 FG. This was a game where Michael had a little fight with Portland's Byron Irvin.

The Bulls won this one 113:102.

Off-ball ability - this kind of sophisticated offense is often necessary to keep pace with the better teams, like the Celtics, Pistons or Lakers back then, or the Mavericks, Warriors, or Spurs today - but this type of offense isn't possible with a ball-dominator..

Also, MJ's off-ball play was a reservoir of assists that teammates could accumulate by passing to him - his off-ball play maximized the assist capacity of the team.. In this video, teammates assisted on half his buckets.

Btw, the lack of weakside spacing back then was amazing - on virtually every play, all 10 players are cramped on the strongside and/or in the paint - there were almost never any offensive players were on the weakside, so defenders never had to go over there - they could just stay on the strongside and were therefore closest to help on strongside action.

when jordan tried to play like lebron, the bulls weren't as effective. this was a good game (nice move @ 4:35), but fools gold e.g. his triple-double streak where the bulls had a losing record.

chicago was at their absolute best with pippen distributing and playing GOAT defense, while mj could chime in with his iso scoring.

MJ led the team in assists per game and assist percentage.. For their careers, MJ's assist percentage was 24.9 in regular season and 28.2% in the playoffs, compared to 23.5 and 21.2% for Pippen - so it's not even close.

Also, MJ guarded Magic for 14 of the 20 quarters in the 1991 Finals (70% of the series), while Pippen only 6 of 20 quarters (30%).

Specifically, Pippen guarded Magic for 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters of Game 2... the 2nd and 3rd quarters of Game 3... the last 4 minutes of Game 4, and nothing in Games 1 or 5... So that's only 6 out of 20 quarters (30% of the time):

    Game 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ddik5aZ02uA
    Game 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMTY0xJSwRY
    Game 3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzLssE0Vcm4
    Game 4: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFcMrcXfCcU
    Game 5: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9B9654H0Cc

So there's all the proof you need - MJ led the defense, assisted on the highest percentage of plays, and led the team in scoring as well.. That's the GOAT burden for a player to undertake.

the bulls were at their BEST when he was the lead playmaker.

pippen also had better on/off defensive numbers, at least from the data available we have.

as per pjax, pippen was the teams leader on defense, the leader of the triangle, and the teams most popular player aka their captain. mj should thank pippen for the success he brought him in chicago.

tbh i don't know whether mj would have improved his 1-9 record without pippen, but from what we know from his washington years, i don't think multiple championships would have been in the equation.
lol, you couldn't make your trolling any more obvious.

without pippen, we honestly don't know whether jordan would be a multiple champion - pippen oth, won everywhere he went, including portland where he was past his prime and everyone praised his leadership.

i'm giving the guy who is supposedly one of your favorite players props. lol @ this fraud.

mj would probably win a championship, but his playoff success without pippen was the worst of any top 10 candidate.

seriously, 1-9 sounds like something from an SNL skit.
