Man I wish I had seen Stoudemire in his prime, only 3 less 40+ games than Barkley and Drexler, 1 less than Dirk too.

Actually Kobe and MJ had more 40+ point games in ONE SEASON than Pierce or Dirk in their CAREER

Wilt, high scoring years, playoffs = 21.2% of his games were at 40+

    For comparison:

1985-1993 Jordan = 27% of his games were at 40+
1962-1970 West = 18.5% of his games were at 40+
1998-2002 Shaq = 12.7% of his games were at 40+
i don't like when people manipulate statistics to fit their opinion.
i wonder what you call the high scoring years of Wilt and how did you find 21,2% while taking a 9 years spans for West to find 18,5%.

The two most surprising players on the list. Tracy McGrady and Gilbert Arenas.

T-Mac is tied for 15th All-Time with another great scorer with a short peak, Bernard King. That should show you all how great Mac was, (for those that put King up so highly.) Right below McGrady, is Karl Malone and right above him, the duo of Pettit and Bird.

Gilbert Arenas, had a total of (29) 40 point games. 28 of those came in that three year span with the Wizards. The other was I think in his rookie season with Golden State. He has more than Drexler, Barkley and Robinson. More than Dirk, Pierce and Ray Allen of the same era.

You don't like it, yet you responded to my post and not to the bullshit it was addressing? If anything, everything I posted is a fact and what I addressed was, like I said, BS.
I don't manipulate anything. On the contrary, my point since...forever, has been that raw stats are the ones that manipulate minds a lot easier.

I have both Wilt's and West's game logs, so it was easy for me to compare the % of 40 point games iin their high scoring years.

Psileas certainly doesn't need defending but West's "scoring seasons" were from 61-62 thru his 69-70 season (he led the league BTW.)

Wilt's "scoring seasons" were from 59-60 thru 65-66. And, his team was so pathetic in his 62-63 season, they didn't make the playoffs...in a season in which Wilt averaged 44.8 ppg on a .528 eFG%.

So, in his 52 playoff games in his "scoring seasons", 30 of which came against Russell BTW, he had 11 of 40+, and 4 of 50+ (three of which came in "must-win" games...including a 50-35 game against Russell.)

Furthermore, one can only imagine the playoff scoring records Chamberlain would own today, had he been in the Western Conference for all six of those post-seasons. In his one post-season in that conference (again, his 31-49 62-63 team didn't even make the post-season) he put up a 38.6 ppg seven game series on the Hawks, which included yet another 50 point game, and a series clinching performance of 39 points, on 19-29 shooting, with 26 rebounds, and 10 blocked shots.

Oh, and had he had the good fortune to have faced the Lakers in those post-seasons, he surely would own the post-season scoring records. In his 61-62 playoffs, his team lost a game seven to Russell's Celtics by a 109-107 margin. Russell went on to average 22.9 ppg, 27.0 rpg, and on a .543 FG% against LA in the Finals, including a game seven of 30 points and 40 rebounds.

In his 9 regular season H2H's with the 61-62 Lakers, Chamberlain averaged 51.6 ppg, 26.8 rpg, and shot .503 from the floor. Included were games of 60-21, 60-26, and a 78-43 game.

And it would not be a fluke, either. In Wilt's 62-63 season, and in 12 H2H games against the Lakers, he averaged 48.6 ppg, 23.9 rpg, and shot .541 from the field. Included were games of 63-30, 67-25, and 72-18. BTW, Russell averaged 21.2 ppg, 26.0 rpg, and on a .467 FG% against LA in the Finals.

In his 63-64 season, and in 12 more H2H games against LA, Wilt averaged 44.3 ppg, 20.8 ppg, and on a .484 FG%. included were games of 50-23, 55-14, 55-29, and 59-27. His low game against LA that season was 31 points.

In his 64-65 season, Wilt "stumbled" a bit against the Lakers, dropping to 29.9 ppg, 22.4 rpg, and on a .476 eFG%. Russell had a 5 game Finals against LA of 17.8 ppg, 25.0 rpg, and on a .702 FG%.

And in his last 'scoring season", in 65-66, and in 10 H2H games against LA, Wilt averaged 40.8 ppg, 25.8 rpg, and shot .546 from the field. Included were games, 49-30, 53-31, 65-29 and even a 30-15-13 game on 12-12 FG/FGA. And Russell averaged 23.6 ppg, on a .538 FG% against the Lakers in his 7 Finals games.

Again, one can only imagine the post-season scoring records Wilt would own today had he faced LA in any series from '62 thru '66.

A name I noticed that was not on the list, Dr. J.
You telling me that Julius Erving never put up more than ten 40 point games in his career? Clearly this must be a typo.

How about his ABA games? You'd think the Doctor would have at least 25 40 points games in the NBA.

More than 35 in the ABA, just 9 in the NBA
