Default Was the Kevin Durant era the shortest era in history?

seems like it lasted two days. In 2014 KD was by far the best player in the NBA, taking the torch from LeBron, winning MVP after averaging 30+ pts a game. Then the playoffs came and Westbrook was the best player on the Thunder which lead to a 2-4 loss to the eventual champs in the WCF. 2015 followed, and KD spent most of the season on the bench due to injury and Westbrook broke out, he became an MVP candidate and people quickly started to forget about KD. The Thunder missed the playoffs by a game or two, which also helped the casuals forget about KD. But a star was born during the 2015, The AMC, Stephgod Curry. Curry took the throne from KD in 2015 by default since KD wasn't there to put up a fight. Curry took his team the finals and hasn't looked back because 2016 is here and Curry has separated himself from the pack by clearly playing the best basketball in the league. We are now in the Curry era.

so in conclusion, the Durant era lasted from his MVP speech to the end of the western conference finals. (pretty much two weeks)

so I ask again, was the KD era the shortest reign in NBA history? is this guy just fated to be second best his entire life?

Tbh I prefer LeBron that season, but I didn't watch a single game that year so take that with a grain of salt. As for the OP, I'd certainly agree, his reign as best in the world was remarkably short, even worse was he was hyped to be the next goat by lots of people even outside of ISH, for example... http://m.bleacherreport.com/articles...ost-jordan-era
People were proclaiming him to be the next Jordan practically, and now he is promptly being washed down the wayside

Tough question. I'm not sure KD ever had an era, and I'm also not sure that he still can't take over as the best player in the league.

Other candidates could be Bill Walton (1977) and whoever was the best player after Mikan retired (Neil Johnston?). Maybe D-Rob in 1995 before the series against Hakeem?

The playoffs say that year say that Durant was not the best player in the league.

He had a great regular season though.

to all the people not sure if he had an era, the general consensus at that time was that he was the greatest player on the planet. few people still had LeBron but I remember the majority of people taking KD, Curry was an afterthought.

even when KD returns to 2014 form, Curry is still the better player.

    WROOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNGGGGGGG

Lebron became the best player in the world in 2011, bolded was all Kobe, that can't be argued. I can't believe you think Nowitzki was the best player in 07, dude's team got knocked out by the 8th seed ffs

    05 arguably is Shaq.

Would be 2012 champs if they didn't face collusion Heat. He doesn't look like the player he was in 2014. Boring to watch now. Looks content to take a backseat to Westbrook.
