What does MJ, Durant and Kobe have in common and why are they clutch? Those 3 guys were raised by both their mother and father growing up. They didn't experience losing someone when they were young. They didn't develop fear of losing something. Contradict to what happened to Lebron, he was abandoned by his father growing up. He has developed fear of losing something when he was young up to the point he got into NBA.

Fear of losing something will make you unclutch and could affect your performance in pressure situations. Fear of losing something ie. championship trophy will make you under perform (ie. Lebron 2011 and almost in 2013). It's his fear of losing something which he developed since his father left him when he was young that made him unclutch and the Lebron we all know today. Imagine Lebron, being guided by his dad and mom growing up, and has no fear of losing something. He can be one of the clutchest players in game's history.

Although due to being unclutched all these years, he has developed his survival instinct. Fear of criticisms from fans can attribute to his new-found instinct. He can develop his survival instinct, but he will never ever develop Killer Instinct and being clutch. It can't be trained just like how you can't train your chin in boxing.
