Guard Rodney Purvis, a top recruit, picks NC State
Sporting News reports:
Hiring Gottfried already has led to a significant recruiting victory for the Wolfpack: combo guard Rodney Purvis, a 6-4, 185-pound senior at Upper Room Christian Academy in Raleigh. He committed Friday afternoon to become part of NC State’s 2012 recruiting class.
At his press conference Friday, Purvis thanked a number of the schools that recruited him, including Ohio State and Memphis, before making the declaration, “I came to a conclusion that there’s no place like home.”
That led to cheering from NC State fans who were in attendance in the gym at Upper Room, and Purvis hadn’t even announced his school selection yet. When they calmed down, he continued.
“With that being said, I’ll be joining my brother Tyler Lewis—AKA White Chocolate—with the North Carolina State Wolfpack.”
Lewis is a 5-11 guard at Virginia’s Oak Hill Academy who had committed to State last October and maintained that pledge through the coaching change.
