Considering how well TEAM USA played in the Tournament of the Americas, there should be no reason not to send the same squad to Bejeing next year. However, we know this is never the case. J-Kidd will be a year older, and who knows how well his then 36 year-old knees will be holding up. Kobe showed his dedication, and he as well as Melo and Bron should be a lock. The role players are subject to question. If you are Jerry Conlangelo, who do you keep, and who wouldn't you invite back? BE RATIONAL WITH YOUR RESPONSES.
Mike Miller, Michael Redd, Tyson Chandler, Chauncy Bilkups and Tayshaun Prince are not locks for next year's squad. Who knows how healthy D-Wade will be, or how Kevin Durant and Greg Oden will have evolved.
Assuming that all players on the national roster are healthy and commited then I'd replace Miller and Prince with a couple of more BIGS like Oden, Brand, Boozer, or Bosh etc.
Rebounding, Interior defense/ offense is gonna be just as important as outside shooting. But with Melo, Kobe, Redd, Lebron that won't be too much of a problem. And eventhough Kidd will be a year older his leadership abilities in the locker room is a must plus you'd have guys like Deron and Chauncey taking over minutes anyways.
Lebron/Melo/Redd (Melo can't get away with playing the four every game at the Olympics)
Coach already guaranteed Bosh and Wade spots. plus I think Boozer or Brand have to be there...I dont see how they can do all that and still field the best team possible..Is Wade gonna take Redd's minutes???and if so why???
how is he easily replaceable? he is a perfect roleplayer for this team. one of the league's top 3 point shooters plus he can pass and rebound.
i dont think he is easily replaceable but he is replacable...
From the shorter 3 point line he wasnt a good shooter...sorry but he wasnt..He was streaky, played bad defense, and took bad shots..That contribution can be replaced with added interior presence at the 4 or 5 spot which will be neccesary in China...
Sorry but I trust Kobe, Melo and Redd shooting open threes a lot more then Mike Miller from the shorter 3 point line..
