how the fck is that a joke

    bowen was over rated..and dirty

ak was pretty good defender....great instincts....foot speed.and long limbs

marion to me was a better defender than either guy..better all around player also

marion is the closest thing to pippen since pippen......not quite the ball handler or distributor but to me not that far from pipp defensively

Yes, most all nba first defensive teams seems to indicate that he is indeed up there with the GOAT defenders

Would you say Kobe is a top 5 perimeter defender of all time? His accolades suggest he's of that caliber, at worst.

you figure that reggie miller would not have any nba first team selections cause of MJ

Rodman won't have any all nba selections

I don't know if there were 2 all nba teams selected in Wilt's day and not sure when it was changed to 3 full all nba teams but can you think of other players who got int the hall without making first team ever......or without making any of the teams?

do you think that you're a legit hof without ever being one of the best five players in the league? (with the defensive specialists as exceptions)
It's not just because of Jordan. All-NBA teams just pick 2 guards and 2 forwards regardless of PG or SG, SF or PF.

There were a number of guards better than Reggie so it's no surprise.

    Dennis Rodman: 3rd Team- 1991-92 and 1994-95
    Reggie Miller: 3rd Team- 1994-95, 1995-96, and 1997-98.

    Fffffffcuk no.

Most of the best perimeter defenders are defensive specialists. Not the superstar scoring guys.

The Heat alone have 3 guys who are better all time perimeter defenders than Kobe. Michael and Scottie are both better than Kobe. Tony Allen in his prime is way better than Kobe ever was. Artest is better. Payton is better. Stockton is better. Moncrief. Kobe is not even close to sniffing top 10.

Definitely not. To be fair, most superstar offensive wings are overrated defensively. I don't know if MJ is a top 5 perimeter defender all=time either (though he was a much better help defender than Kobe, so that helps his case).

The top 5 perimeter defenders ever are most likely defensive specialists/role players.

Its kinda hard to compare defenders across different eras because the rules are so different. If LeBron and Wade were allowed to play physical defense like Jordan's era, they'd be so much better man defenders than they are currently allowed by the rules.

Probably, but they're both great help defenders, and team D is more impactful than help D.

Either way, they're both tremendous two-way players who would be great in any era.
