A story I read on another forum is that PG was going to come, but Pelinka and Magic got busted for the tampering. LA did receive a 500K fine, but due to the level of tampering, the NBA blocked the deal as they couldn't allow LA to benefit from it, not making that part public.

It sounds plausible IMO, wouldn't make sense to allow the team breaking the rules to benefit from it in the end.
