Even JJ Barea can dunk, so who can't in the NBA?

Fair enough. From what I've seen from him as Net, I only conclude as such cause he's not as quick as he used to be and seemed to be less athletic overall.

Someone never dunking in the NBA absolutely doesn't mean he can not put it in in practice palming it with one hand, without dribbling start, (or off of a perfect self lob) once in 10 tries.

If you can barely dunk, you will not try it in a game.
Much less in an NBA game..

but with the amount of cameras at games, preseason games, team practices there would be vids of most of these guys throwing it down if they ever did because it would be such a big deal don't you think?

I read in an article that Al Jefferson bet that Sebastian Telfair couldn't dunk for $500, so Bassy threw it off the backboard to dunk it in front of the team in practice (Jefferson didn't pay him regardless ). Speedy Claxton also has a few dunks in And1 Mixtape Volume 7.

Absolutely not... It's not a big deal at all.
A weak, ugly dunk off one feet with one hand by a guy like Rafer Alston would not be a big deal at all.

Why would they even keep doing it at every practice? Especially if they are not young anymore...


Come on now. Do you guys play basketball at any level?
I'm asking this, because I play very low level.
In a small country (Hungary), where basketball is not even a very popular sport.

Even first class basketball sucks here (national team lost by 60 points to the Spanish NT) and I play in some 5th class rec league, with 1-2 practices a week.

Still, most of the guys on my team can dunk in practice. (very few can dunk in games though)
I have a teammate, who is 6'3, 260 pounds, big, fat guy, but even he can dunk in practice. (so lean, athletic 6'3 NBA players certainly can)



I suspect most of you guys here on this messageboard play at least some very low level basketball (if nothing else, streetball).
You really have to see every day, and know that mainly only guys who are either under 6 feet, or old, very unathletic, or injured are the ones who can not dunk even in practice...

He can dunk, but it's basically 100% sure that he wont do it on the Cavs in a game situation.

Damn, I feel so bad now seeing JJ throwing one down. I mean, I'm 5'10 with relatively long arms and I struggle with tapping rim off two feet. He has professional training though, so I guess you gotta take that into account, plus I don't think I'm as explosive as him.

Everyone can dunk,

If you are over 6'4", you can dunk regardless of athleticism.

If you are below 6', you probably have freakish athleticism anyways.
