no, not obsolete you moron. years is a gauge on how worn a plane may be by how many take offs and landings it has endured. same way you can gauge a cars mileage by how many years its been driven. commercial planes including 747's are usually decommissioned at about 20 years. this plane is 18 years old.

Clueless.

You have to pay fair market value, but the campaign is supposed to separate from Trump inc. This means he is not getting bids for the lowest bidder.
Having campaign offices in Trump Tower is a terrible waste of money for a campaign. Because you are paying market rates to be on 57th and 5th. Unless the candidate is making money off rent. Do you think Trump's plane is the cheapest way to fly? It is not. So you if you are Donating to Trump, something like 20% of the donations are going back to Trump business and you are not getting value for those businesses.
He's paying himself with his own money.
If "The NumberSix Campaign" is funded by NumberSix and pays "The NumberSix Organization" to use a property owned by NumberSix...... NumberSix has the same amount of money he started with.
It's just free use of his own property with a bunch of paperwork. The idea is that people don't bribe politicians with free use of property. It just happens that unlike other politicians, Trump owns a bunch of properties. But because of these laws, he has to pay himself to use his own property.

Actually, planes keep count of the exact number of take offs, flight hours, etc. and have to go in every 18 months for a check up and to make sure it's up to current standards and regulations.
If a plane is in good shape, it's in good shape, regardless of "years".

ofcourse they keep track of how many cycles a plane has. it is regulated by the government.
but as a practical assumption, "years" is still a gauge on how worn a plan can be. If your average commerical plane is decommissioned around 20 years, then you can guess that a plane around 20 years has had that many cycles. hard to understand?

No it isn't. They don't guess how "worn" a plane "can" be. They thoroughly inspect EXACTLY what shape the plane is in. If they evaluate that it's in proper shape, it's in proper shape.
And they don't guess how many "cycles" a plane had. They keep records of EXACTLY how much use the plane has had.

Re: Trump gets Pence a plane
Also, the aviation community is praising Trump for making a very wise decision by choosing the 737. They are real pilots and thought his choice of plane was a very very smart decision.
Again, Trump is topnotch on every decision.
The plane (built in 1998) is much newer than the ones McCain and Romney used...this plane has transcontinental range and can fly from Boston to San Diego nonstop. The only Republican in the last two campaigns who had a plane anywhere close to new was Sarah Palin (an Embraer 190AR built in 2006 chartered from NYC-based JetBlue).
It makes sense for the Trump Campaign to charter the B-737 they did, for Mike Pence's part of the campaign. As a Charter Pilot, also type rated in the 737, I can say that it was a wise choice.
Trump's campaign is being run like a business should be. Wise and economical choices in everything they do, is the hallmark of the Trump efforts. The use of a 737 from Eastern Charters, is smart. I think that we have a really smart and prudent nominee, who will make a great president!!

Re: Trump gets Pence a plane
If the plane is wrapped then
I was quoted 5k to wrap my M3.
My buddies Range Rover has a 6k wrap.
Wrap cost more than paint and is only needed for texture and shades that paint can't produce. These are very simple colors.
I'm sure its painted.

thats what i just said that they do keep track of cycles and that it is regulated by the government. do you read? im talking about using years as a non technical and practical gauge by a few guys on a forum judging a plane if its old or not. good god why do i even talk to you idiots.

Heck, they don't even make a new model every 5 years.
You're really awful at logic.
Do you think they stop making planes between model years? They are still making new planes all the time.
Additionally there a lots of types of 737s. 737 is whole fleet of different planes with tweaked designs from 1965 to a new model launching in 2017.
There's nothing wrong with the campaign buying an 18 year old plane, they saved themselves like $30 million dollars by doing that.
It's completely goofy to think Trump went out and bought a new plane for 4 months and and it's goofy to be impressed by the campaign buying a plane and putting their logo on it. It's a super weird thing and I don't know why the conservative blogs were so excited by it.
And you mean aviation history, not avionics history.

It's not free use of his own property. His campaign is spending more per square foot for campaign use at Trump Tower than the Clinton campaign is spending in Brooklyn. Thus the campaign is wasting money.
Trump is also soliciting donations and receiving money from the RNC.

Of course. It's a plane. It's not like Boeing just has a bunch new 737s on a parking lot like a car dealership. You order them and your name is added to the list. If you order a new plane, you're not getting it anytime soon.

You understand that the money Trump makes from "renting" his property to himself, he can put that money right back into his campaign, as if the transaction never happened?
Do you know what the word "fungible" means?

They are not designing planes every year bro.
The 737 is an old design that is still produced to this day.
They don't have new models ever year and I don't know why you guys think planes are like cars.
