Carmelo and Knicks marriage over.
The writing was on the wall draft night. I think it became very clear to Jax that NY needs a rebuild.... nothing else will do. There's a good reason Knicks aren't signing any big names this FA period - Players won't go to a rebuilding team with an unproven coach and a notoriously stupid owner. Knicks brass will hold onto the $ for next year's FA period. Really, it's about filling a roster with an eye on future goals.
I feel bad for my fellow NYC fans who hoped for the quick fix while Melo is here. But it's not happening. Dolan jumped the gun on that Melo trade, and 2012 was nothing more than a group of veteran all-stars who felt their age towards playoffs. I'm going into 2016 on a positive note with Porzingis, and can only hope the team plays better than the 17 wins of last season. I think Melo is going to want to be traded come next season, and that may be the plan after all is said and done. I hope we can land a couple of picks for him... he's gonna be damaged goods after this shit.

hopefully melo can force a trade. he's a bum. he's bernard king without a heart. i know it sounds like hyperbole but his best role would a ball dominant 6th man leading a second unit on a contender.

if he gives UFAs a crack at LaLa's juggs maybe they could get a decent 2nd scorer.

Can't believe Phil signed him to begin with.

+1. Should have facilitated the S&T. He caved and overpaid Melo to sell some tix.

he is not a superstar, people expect too much from him. i expect league-average rebounding and 25 ppg on 41% shooting and virtually no defense or assists from him. he's a 2nd banana and thats just the reality. unfortunately knicks fans are almost as dumb as yankee fans and base his status on ppg and salary level.
if i could only choose one over him, off the top of my head, i'd go with:
steph
bron
kobe(even now)
dirk (ditto)
kd
harden
aldridge
lillard
westbrook
conley (has a heart)
kyrie
wall
when i can name that many in 15 seconds i don't think he qualifies as a superstar

With all the cap space that the Knicks knew they were going have, you sometimes roll the dice and sign a Carmelo type player/deal in hopes of doing well in FA.
They've whiffed so far.
