I don't hate him but I think since they have Blake, he's pretty useless on the team now

More like now Barnes is around. walton was forced to be the back-up SF the last few years which is partly what hurt the bench.

I live in Los Angeles, and I know people DO NOT HATE HIM.
May be he is overpaid a bit, but as a bench player he did what he was asked to do. He did not asked to be a starter, he did not complain. Every team needs a quality player like this.

Yeah that and I feel Walton was there to help teach the triangle to new members but I feel Blake is fully capable now

It's not just laker fans that don't like the guy. He is a wanker

a LAKER & a DODGER fan
Re: How come Lakers' fans hate Luke Walton?
I can also confirm the fans saying "LUUUUUKKKKKEEE."
Anytime he gets a shot off.
For the most part Laker fans want to see him do good.
They want him to make a shot or a great pass.
But he's not even in the game enough to be consistent at anything..

Blake is not up to speed yet in the system, when he's on the floor with the bench players he looks great when he's on the floor with the starters he looks a little lost still because of all the movement, he'll get, he seems to be a quick study.
As for Luke he's good when the bench is stagnant or having trouble initiating the triangle, Luke is that one guy off the bench who knows the system well enough that his off ball movement and passing can settle down the bench when they start playing over their heads, forgetting the extra pass or pushing the tempo

Doesn't space the floor?? I'd like to see a bunch of examples of Luke NOT providing proper spacing.
The reason the offense runs smoothly with him on the court is because he's a great passer and he knows the offense better than anyone not named Kobe. So he knows where he needs to be and where his teammates will be.
If only he was a good corner shooter...
Why do Lakers fans hate him? It's a good question, him and Sasha always get the hate, even though they've been in LA for years and always been ready when they where called upon.

Re: How come Lakers' fans hate Luke Walton?
He spaces the floor and has decent passing, its just funny whenever he gets the ball me and my friends start a countdown as to when he'll pass the ball back to someone. It's usually under 2 seconds. In that sense, he's like the small forward version of Bogans.
Wide open shot? Hold on, lets wait and then pass it. Posting up a smaller guy? Hold on, let me back down for a second, then I'll promise to pass it back to you Kobe.

Re: How come Lakers' fans hate Luke Walton?
He started 60 games in the '06-'07 season and averaged 11pts/5rebs/4asts and Mitch Kupchak decided to award him 6yr/$30 million as a restricted free agent when NO TEAM was after him. It was an overreaction that cost us nearly $5 million a season. Not to mention since then, he has been hurt and has only played sparingly in just a few games in 3 seasons.
Is he a good passer? Yes.
Is he a good rebounder? No.
Is he a good scorer? No.
Is he a good defender? No
Is he relatively healthy? No.
Do you want him on the floor in the 4th quarter? No.
