Jordan averaged an NBA Finals record of 41.0 points per game with 8.5 rebounds and 6.3 assists.

As Glove noted, K.J. only guarded Jordan in half the games. As for what I'm trying to argue, I've made the point several times. By slowing Jordan's scoring rate just enough, K.J. allowed the Suns' team defense to hold up much better and Phoenix proved far more successful. K.J.'s defense nearly swung the championship to the Suns.

Dig into my posts, as I explain all that.

Who doesn't get owned by Jordan at his VERY best? And if that is enough to start giving the Suns the series advantage, then IT DOES MATTER

The point is that that difference allowed the Suns to turn the series around and nearly win the title. It didn't quite happen, but it very well could have, especially if Westphal had not gone back to Majerle for Game Four. Just slowing Jordan's scoring rate a bit made a big difference in that series.

Payton > Stockton?!?

Yeah $%&#ing right. How about all-time leading FG% for a PG, all-time leading assists over Magic, and all-time leading steals over MJ.

Stockton the #1 point guard...no, probably not. Better than Payton? Hell ya.

of course he was solid, underrated in the all-time list, he should be top 10 all-time IMO.

How about getting outplayed by Payton again and again...How about getting DOMINATED by Payton on the biggest games of their career at the point?

How about having only 1 advantage over Payton (passing) and nothing else...Payton had too much on Stockton

Plain field goal percentage doesn't indicate the number of field goal attempts, but, yes, you can also use it.

Jordan's field goal percentage versus Byron Scott and other Lakers in the '91 Finals: .617

Jordan's field goal percentage versus Clyde Drexler and the Blazers in the '92 Finals: .526

Jordan's field goal percentage in the three Dan Majerle games in the '93 Finals versus the Suns: .525

Jordan's field goal percentage in the three Kevin Johnson games in the '93 Finals versus the Suns: .490

Obviously, K.J. was able to contain Jordan better than any of the others. He certainly couldn't stop him, but he slowed him down just enough, to the point where the Suns had a real chance to win the series. Having a chance to win is what it's all about.

Um Sizzle, OBVIUOSLY you did not read anything. KJ guarded MJ more on games 3,4 and 6 rather than 1,2,5. And 1,2,5 were the games MJ played the best...So that takes away your argument instantly sizzle

why didnt he guard him games 5 then? if he did an awesome job on him, why didnt he guard him?
