Why do these mythical super team showdown threads always feature teams that have crazy redundancy and terrible chemistry?

I would take out Glove, put Magic at the one and put Pippen at the 3, who's a much better physical matchup for Lebron. Hakeem, Garnett and Pip are a ridiculous defensive frontcourt. Magic would obviously have issues with Iverson but the reverse is the case as well.

I'm not sure how well Shaq and Duncan work together, Duncan worked with robinson because the Admiral was able to operate around the elbow at time whereas Shaq is camping out 5 feet from the rim, which will limit how much Duncan can operate in the post. Kobe and Iverson as a pairing also isn't the greatest, two similar minded players offensively. Magic facilitating with MJ on the wing, Hakeem down low or orchestrating the break with Mj, Pip and Garnett as play finishers would be an embarassment of offensive riches.

I hate an Iverson/Kobe backcourt; add LeBron and that's a bad fit of perimeter players. It's also really dumb to have two point guards in Magic & Payton as starters in the other lineup

I'm surprised that there isn't that much talk about Jordan being a prime factor here. Peak Shaq of course is something but Orlando Shaq lost to Hakeem and Jordan independently when they were in their element.

I think I'll take the top. I think they can better maximize their talent in that team. Lebron is probably the second best player, but the team has to revolve around his style to be effective. How would that affect Iverson, Kobe?

True team USA had to adapt to Lebron in order to succeed. Great myth chap

2 players on the bottom are allegedly not great for chemistry (AI, lebron), while duncan's muted leadership isn't effective on dream teams

Other than Garnett, there's more mature, focused winners in the top group.. and better defense.. defense is probably the difference here

Guys like Shaq and AI don't work hard

And every guy in the bottom group is somewhat black-hole' ish - ai and Bron are super ball-dominators that aren't necessarily starting at pg (so their ball-dominance is abnormal)... Shaq and duncan are post black holes... And Kobe has some inefficient chucker in him

Overall, the bottom group is more fundamentally-sound, less ball-dominant, and more mature, focused winners w/ better D

I’m tempted to pick bottom, but AI being there is what’s holding me back. Give me Paul or even Nash and I’m down.

Top obviously

Lebron and Iverson kill any chance the bottom team has to win

Dudes would be passing out of double teams for midranges. Some of the worst three point shooting teams I've ever seen.

I think whoever could hit open 3s (it would be a brick fest) would win. The only person I have any confidence in as a shooter is Kobe, but even he isn't a knock down shooter. Same w/ Bron, mad streaky and Bron would probably be handling.

Top team in 6. The defense is too good. No way LeBron's as effective as he is with that team.

The ball would stick. ISO ball won't beat a Magic team.

Replace Bron with Bird and Al with Curry

Curry
Kobe
Bird
Duncan
Shaq

Magic at the 3 for the 90s team? Give me Pippen or Hill.

I'd roll with Hakeem, Malone(I like Barkley better, but Malone's the better fit imo), Hill, Jordan and GP.

2000s:

Shaq, Duncan, Lebron, Kobe, Nash.

I'd prefer Kidd on a Lebronless team, but Nash is the better fit.
