Cool Article On Duncan Mentoring Blake

'He really respects Tim,' said Griffin's Atlanta-based business manager, Lorne Clark. 'His thing was, "'How do I become more of a leader and how do I help this team win? What do I have to do?"
Duncan, a 39-year-old five-time champion, gave the Clippers all they could handle in the first round. Last summer, he gave Griffin, a 26-year-old, five-time All-Star, his blueprint -- only to watch Griffin ultimately embrace it at the Spurs' expense.
Produce, Duncan told him. Lead by example. Make people respect your actions. Have personal relationships with each of your teammates so you can have one-on-one conversations with them when they need you.
Griffin listened, and took notes. Then, during the idyllic summer months in LA, it was time to execute the plan.

Re: Cool Article On Duncan Mentoring Blake
What an idiot Tim Duncan is helping a player in his conference on a team that is in "win now" mode.
Like if Tim Duncan decided to mentor KD or James Harden.

I've read that he's actually told (opposing) players what they should have done on court (box out, etc). It's not all about yourself, it's about the good of the entire league. Besides just telling them doesn't mean that they'll do it. I'm sure he's told Ayres/Nazr lots of stuff - they still have hands of stone.
That's why Leonard's lucky to have ended up on SAS. The advice is invaluable - not just basketball, but life too.

How can someone who's won 5 rings, 2 MVPs and 3 FMVPs be a choker? One doesn't amass that many accolades by choking. You must have forgotten the shot before .4 or the three vs PHX or the record playoff blocks or the record playoff defensive rebounds or the record playoff double-doubles. Or did you not watch this past series (although I was sure he'd miss at least one of those free-throws at the end of game 7 - nothing but the bottom of the net).
