Re: Who is the best player of all time?
Didn't we just have a poll earlier this year where MJ ran away with it? Nothing has changed since then
LeBron will have less votes now that a bunch of Simon's alts have been banned.

Re: Who is the best player of all time?
All 40 MVP's since the 3-point line began in 1980 were dominant offensive players, so 1-way defenders like Russell wouldn't be MVP-caliber in the modern era
Since dominant offense is the MVP standard of the modern era, the goat is the player that won the most as "the man", meaning your team's best offensive player
That's obviously MJ, who won 6 rings as his team's best offensive player, while 2nd place only had 2 or 3 rings as "the man" (Shaq, Magic, Bird, Lebron, Kobe, Durant, Kawhi)

I'm not sure I agree with your rationale (i.e. Dwight Howard almost won MVP in 2010-11, and Dwight's offense was about as good as Shaq's defense in 1999-00), but it seems clear that MJ was the best player in the world for more than five years as some might infer from his MVP count.

Re: Who is the best player of all time?
Some might infer that he was only the best player in the world for five years based on his regular season MVP count.
It's not even that type of award, as we know, but whatever.

you didn't find an exception though (all 40 MVP's in the modern era/3-pointer basketball were dominant offensive players)
so you didn't refute what I said - and the non-example you provided was infact a dominant offensive player
There's many levels to this - Dwight wasn't on Shaq's level of offensive domination, but he was a huge post presence that Orlando consistently fed and ran their offense through - he absolutely dominated offensively and on the post - he simply doesn't compare to Russell, a purely scrappy player offensively..
The Cavs couldn't stop Dwight in the ECF because he dominated the block - Russell never did anything like that offensively - he was never this big post option offensively

Career PPG Playoffs

3) West......... 29.1
4) Lebron...... 28.9
5) Durant...... 28.8
6) Barry......... 27.3
7) Elgin......... 27.0
8) Gervin...... 26.5
9 Curry......... 26.0
10) Hakem... 25.9
