Again, the MVP always goes to a player from a team with a top 3-4 record in the league, Kobe's not getting MVP winning 42-45 games. Not saying that's necessarily fair, but that's the way MVP voting goes. And in '04 he would've had to overcome a phenomenal season from KG

It's not like Kobe is some dominant playoff performer anyways, he doesn't even have one legendary playoff game on his resume ( LeBrons 48 vs Pistons, LeBrons Game 6 vs Boston etc)

Malone in 1982 (Moses, not the hebephile Karl) was the last player to win MVP for a team that didn't win 50 games, I believe. It always goes to players on better teams. That hurt Kobe in the voting for the 2006 and 2007 seasons.

Shaq and Kobe basically cancelled each other out in the votes. Shaq won in 2000, and the next year is when Kobe really established himself as an elite player. His scoring went from the low 20s to about 30 a game.
