Also, I don't mind if they expand the roster a couple spots if they're going to continue to allow fan votes to make mistakes.

Or how about we get rid of East Coast and West Coast All-Star teams? Just take the best guys, regardless of Conference. Do it pick'em style like they do for the Rising Star game.
like all these ideas. NBA league pass holders should also be able to vote (so international fans can vote as well)

    multiple votes should be disallowed.

The coach from the top seed from each conference (by allstar break) selected as conference coach. A player from the same team is selected as conference captain and is automatic allstar starter.
E.g. Kerr chooses Curry as his starting guard. Budenholzer chooses Horford as his.
Coach then selects his team from a pool of qualified players in his conference. The conference which win the allstar game have HCA in the finals.

Stupid idea. This honor should be for the cream of the crop only. All the league needs to do is take away fan voting so that undeserving players like Kobe and Duncan don't get in.
Duncan wasn't voted in by the fans.

The point remains that Duncan doesn't deserve to be there. If not for him and Kobe taking spots they didn't deserve there would be no snubs in the West this year. Expanding the rosters is stupid, just stop letting players in based on past career accomplishments.

You once agreed with yourself (dubeta account) that PER > all. The stat perfectly gauges a players' impact.

Duncan has the 12 best PER of any WC player, and a better one than Lillard.

Don't go backtracking on your points, negusta.

First of all...there needs to be 3 frontcourt reserves.

But secondly...Ellis? Are you being serious right now?

    Here they are this season:

    http://www.basketball-reference.com/...3=&p4=&p5=&p6=

15/10/3/1/2 with DPOY-level defense for Duncan.
20/2/5/2/.5 with well below average defense for Ellis.

    Duncan has a better PER (21.7 - 19.1), more Win Shares (4.7 - 3.8, even though Duncan has played 6 less games), a better WS/48 (.175 - .108), a better Box +/- (4.2 - 1.0), a better VORP (2.0 - 1.2), a better RPM (5.93, 8th in the league - 1.46, 80th in the league), and a better RAPM.

We're comparing a guy who still impacts the game like a top-level superstar to a guy who impacts the game like a star who gets a few too many touches.

I honestly don't think there's one category where Ellis beats Duncan. Even if you hate stats, you can't really make much of a case with that kind of evidence. Ellis is the third wheel on that team (Dirk and Chandler are their best players). The Spurs still play around Duncan, even to this day.

But if fan don't vote and coaches don't vote who will vote then. The media? They are even worse at choosing evaluating players than the fans.

The only one you might consider from his choices is Cousins, that's it. But Duncan is still a beast. Most of these young'un all see flash and not substance.

Yeah. And I agree that Cousins > Duncan.

But I personally don't think Durant shouldn't have made it. He hasn't played nearly enough games. His 21 games are not worth more than Tim's 42.
