Geez. This isn't rocket science. Sports Science is just saying his first step is on par with John Wall. Not his overall athleticism (IE. Speed, Vert, lateral quickness, etc.) Just watch John Wall and Lin and it's pretty obvious they both have a pretty freaking fast first step...

Surprised you said this considering you're a Rose fan. Derrick wasn't a good shooter in college and I think he shot just at 70% from the FT line (college) and what, 25% from three point in his rookie year? It seems as if overnight he's turned into an 85% FT shooter and a 33% three point shooter. People work hard and get better.
