Default Where would Tim Duncan rank...

if the Spurs were to repeat for the first time in the Duncan era and he'd tie Jordan with 6 rings?

this is why these all time discussions are a joke. If this was a Kobe thread, this would be 100 posts.

indisputably above kobe, shaq, hakeem, bird, lebron (so far)

    arguably above wilt, bird, magic

    arguably below russell

    indisputably below jordan, kareem

If Spurs repeat then Leonard wins another FMVP and now has as many as LeBron and Kobe then does he enter the conversation as a HoF lock and top 15 player all time?

If I'm starting a team I take these players before Duncan.

    Wilt
    Kareem
    Bird
    Magic
    MJ
    Russell
After those 6 you can pick between those that are left.
    Kobe
    Duncan
    Dream
    Shaq
    Big O
    Hondo
    Lebron
It's to close to call for me. I just know Duncan is not in my top 6.

Same spot he's in now unless he wins FMVP.

If not, it'd be the THIRD time that he's lost the FMVP to an inferior player. That definitely isn't going to vault him past anyone that's above him.

Serious question here: how many 38-39 year olds have been the best player on a contender, throughout NBA history?

According to WS and WS/48, Duncan had the best Playoff run of anyone aged 37 or over in NBA history, and the second best PER behind Kareem.

Duncan is already top 5 because of his peak, longevity, and ring total.

One more ring wouldn't change much, maybe he'd be top 3.

No Duncan in 2000: 1st round exit
Duncan plays bad in 09, 10 and 11: 1st round exit, 2nd round sweep, 1st round exit to 8th seed

Don't feed me that always shit. Pop almost got fired in 99 because he was doing such a shitty job.
