If it's to be a true sequel they'll have to put it at least 30 years in the future. All the actors have AARP cards.

yes, as long as Lucas stays far far away from it maybe the franchise can be revitalized.

I don't know if a lot of you know this, but there is actually a story after Episode 6. Luke founds a new Jedi Academy, Han and Leia have a kid, etc. Maybe it'll be telling that story.

I see a lot of knee jerk reactions. Don't trump it before you see it in-my-opinion. While the new prequels weren't as good as the originals, I did like the back-story and I still enjoyed watching them. Especially Episode 1 with Darth Maul.

the Star Wars universe is pretty much put in written form already. Dozens of books on what's happening after episode 6. Han and Leia marry and have kids (twins, Jaina and Jacen, and Anakin). Luke marries and has a son I believe.
Expect a huge outcry by the SW community if Episode 7 makes up a brand new story.

I don't know how to feel about this. I've always thought a new trilogy was inevitable, but I didn't think it would be done under Disney's banner. On the flipside, George Lucas has become a hack director who is only in it for the merchandise money as evidenced by the prequel trilogy and now him selling his soul and life's work to a conglomerate. If the right people are involved, it could turn out alright. I wonder if they will bring Mark Hamil back as Luke.

Any franchise that would create a character like Jar Jar Binks doesn't give a shit what anyone thinks anyhow. The "SW community" will accept anything they're dealt because they're addicts.

agreed with many... this might be the last chance to turn around this once-great film franchise. i'd love to see what star wars might look like in someone else's hands.

Thats only half. The other half is on suicide watch. I've read the Thrawn Trilogy before, and it was pretty good. Wouldn't be upset if they followed that but like you said before, ROTJ was 30 years ago.
