Default If/when the Spurs win the championship, who is the MVP?

Leonard was great for 2 games so far. Diaw played pretty good for all of them. Duncan was great in game 1 and consistently good in 2-4. Parker has been quietly good but, not a whole lot of memorable plays....

So, who gets it? I'm thinking Duncan as the elder statesman and anchor of the team but, it's hard to pick one person.

Should I make another FMVP thread? I don't think 5 is enough.

Unless something crazy happens in the next 1-3 games, Leonard should be a shoo in.

Love what Kawhi is doing, but he was invisible for two games. Duncan has been the most consistently effective player on the team and should get it, unless Kawhi goes off for 38 and 15 or something crazy in Game 5.

This really is a tough one. I'd probably say Leonard deserves it, but I honestly don't know who the media will vote for -- that is, if they win.

It's definitely between Leonard/Duncan/Parker, with Diaw and Manu being close behind (not in terms of impact, in terms of who will win).

I think what separates Duncan and Leonard from the rest is they had a "game".

Leonard was quiet the first two games, but still, he dominated 2/3 wins, both on the road. A solid to good game in game 5(assuming a win) gets him the MVP.

when leonard went into foul trouble,
lebron was beasting, and spurs lost,
thats all you need to know about who got the most impact

    Not necessarily:
Spurs also shot 60% from the free throw line and 44% from the field that game. And Wade, Bosh and Lewis played like it wasn't their first time.

Leonard was in foul trouble in game 1 also and SA beat Miami handily.

James shot a better percentage in game 3 with Leonard on the floor for most of the game.

While he definately has an impact on the game, it's not a 1 to 1 relationship.

I think Parker's case right now is that he's the leading scorer and has been the most consistent scorer throughout the series. He hasn't had a game under 15 points yet and every other player on the Spurs has had at least 2. He's played solid defense and limited Chalmers, Cole, & Allen to being non-factors.

I think there's also something to be said about being the court general for one of the best offenses of all time as well as being the Spurs best player throughout the playoffs. I wouldn't normally bring up those factors, but in a case like this where it could be so close, they might play part of the decision.

Also, Parker hasn't had a breakout game, but he's hit huge 3s in the 4th in 3 games:

Game 1: Clincher with 1:14 left
    Game 2: Go-ahead with 2:26 left (very similar to 2013 G6)
Game 3: Put the game out of reach with 6:57 (dagger in a way)

Personally, if the Spurs win G5, I think if either Leonard, Duncan, or Parker have a breakout game to clinch, that respective player will get it.

This is how crazy that team is. They don't even have a clear cut MVP and are absolutely dominating the series.

Kawahi killed the Heat in the two blowouts on the Heat floor that pretty much clinched the series. Unless someone has a killer game 5 it's his to lose.
