True baskeball fans who saw MJ play, and the fortunate few (like myself) who got to see him in person night in and night out know what the deal is with MJ's jumping ability.
You have to understand that some people like fatal9 and others just live to degrade Jordan.
Let them be, they see the fottage, they know the deal.
They just can't admit it.

I started to read this terrible thread not realizing it had been from a long time ago lol... I usually stay out threads like these simply because... well you can all tell why.
Can someone enlighten me about the "advanced motion study" on page 6 (post #90)? I hated my econometrics class in university.

They're flawed in so many ways. For one, the difference between the standing reach and the highest touch should equal the max jump (i.e a 7ft reach and a 36 vert would yield a 10ft highest touch).
Jordan's max jump is closer to 42, which is still nothing to sneeze at but he's not getting a half foot above the rim with the top of his head.
And Moss does not have a 51 inch vert, nor does Kadour Ziani have a 5ft leap.

not only they are annoying, they are constantly trying to convince us he was something out of this world atheltically wise - when in reality there has been PLENTY of stronger and faster players, just not so good game wise. Jordan ('85-'91) was faster end to end, quicker, and more explosive (first step, changing speeds, acceleration in general) than Lebron is. Originally Posted by madmax

I don't even know how it became accepted that Jordan is even the best SG athlete. Drexler is stronger, faster, a better leaper and debatable on who is quicker in the half court. Jordan was just a better ball handler (so his movements appear a lot smoother) and better at changing direction or stopping on a dime, and probably better conditioned too. Seriously, there are some bursts of speed that I've seen Drexler have that Jordan has never even approached. Drexler was racing competitively with Carl Lewis (allegedly beat him too) during his university days...he was that quick/fast.
