As is always the case in the tournament (and basketball in general I guess), it's all about who makes shots. Miami is missing their open 3's and Marquette is making their open 3's.

it doesn't make sense to me. Going to the Big East next year. He's done a great job with the scraps (less the case in recent years) of Purdue and IU. His program has grown into a perennial tourney team.

Unless its s 10 year contract, what other incentive would there be to leave a place like Butler for the meat grinder that is UCLA?

And Miami's done. Just another flash in the pan one year wonder in the ACC who only looks like world beaters against UNC and Duke, and flames out earlier than expected in the tournament.

On another note, on top of hitting their shots (and 3's despite normally being a bad 3-point shooting team) Marquette's defensive gameplan has been excellent and executed at a high level by the players.

amazing how much, much, much lower seeds gave marquette so much trouble (should have won the 1st round game) but the 5th number 1 seed looks horrendous against them.

thomas dude keeping ohio state in the game against arizona.

Typical tournament performance from a highly ranked ACC team not named UNC or duke since pretty much 2002.

I don't include the Georgia Tech team that made the Finals because no team coached by Paul Hewitt can win anything.

Happy to see Marquette with an Elite 8 run. I really like Buzz Williams.

I think this AZ team would really benefit from a player like TJ McConnell out on the court. Heady PG with great instincts that can minimize the TO's that kill Lyons game sometimes. He should be a nice glue guy next year.

Yep, every 2-3 years you can count on this. Some team has a "flash in the pan" ACC season, gets at least one win over UNC or Duke where they make a thousand 3's and people think they're even better than they really are, they get a 2-4 seed in the tournament, and get bounced by the Sweet 16.
