Default Backboard Breaking Dunks

If shaq is breaking the backboard it is one thing, but even college players that do not seem to weight even that much are breaking boards. how weak are these boards exactly

this is the best one ever cause it was with one hand and it wasnt from hanging on the rim or pulling it down. it was just the force of the dunk

The dunk is cool and one of my favorites, but I never really took it as being a result of some sort of ungodly level of dunking power. There were a lot of different rims and backboards those days and they varied throughout all of professional, college and high school ranks. Some just had terrible weak spots. People could jump and hammer on them a thousand times, but if one guy hit it just right - even if it wasn't more powerful than the rest - it'd give.

The same thing happened to Blue Edwards: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9XYG_EWOjQ

We won't see shattered glass, but we could see hydrolics malfunction or the whole thing break like Shaq did. The other year we saw Dwight knock down a shotclock.
