Default 2014 NBA Playoffs | Kevin Durant 2014 MVP

    You guys watching?

This is sad man.....the Lakers board no action in here.
I'm hoping we make some moves this off season....no news for now.

Until then I love ball so I'm still keeping an eye on the playoffs. But with no Lakers it just dosent seem right.

Yes, watched the Grizzlies-Thunder and Clippers-GSW game, the latter was well a touch sad to watch GSW couldn't get anything going for 3 quarters was dreadful seeing Curry struggle shooting like he did think he missed his first 5 or so 3 pointers pretty much had the Clippers applying hard double teams to him most times I watched couldn't even bring the ball up the court because of the defensive attention paid to him for parts in the game. The Grizzlies-Thunder game was pretty good to watch not the most exciting but it certainly was funny to see the commentators saying Perkins should have stayed on the bench then he gets the offensive rebound and ties the game to force overtime and then they rave on about how it was tactical genius from Brooks despite the total opposite all of virtually 5 seconds before.

Hopefully there is something done it's a bit boring without my team being in the playoffs but I suppose it allows me to watch without bias and not be worried about losing

Lol I feel you about watching without bias and not fearing and getting pissed with a lose. But man I live to see the Lakers in the post season.

I like the Warriors so I'm following that series close.
Going to be interesting to see how they respond on their home floor. I think the lose of Bogut will be seen as the series progresses. And can Curry get a call????

I'm just waiting to see what off season moves we can pull off. I'd like to get a new coach but the question will be who is available????

It's one of the few ways I can cope with the annoyance and slight boringness of the Lakers not being in the playoffs is to enjoy the other NBA games and analyse/watch with no bias or anything of the like so it's maybe a bit less stressful but if I had the choice I'd obviously pick the Lakers back in the playoffs.

Same, I really hope Bogut can get back but I doubt we will see it as he's still out indefinitely unfortunately, he is all around good defensively and helps Lee who isn't the best post defender albeit he did improve this year a bit still a double double machine unfortunately it could hurt them, hopefully O'Neal can turn back the clock , they did well in the first game but then smashed this game Jordan was feasting on everything inside and no one could do anything to stop Griffin in the first half, the defense on Curry was very tough but I suppose with his 3 point shooting in the playoff's he's going to get it defense wise now he adjusted well in the 3rd when he opened it up for Lee passing to him for a few easy layups, some hard defense from the Clippers I suppose expected with Doc coaching them.

Assuming D'Antoni is fired I'm not sure, my pick has been Hollins but I expect the Pistons will be heavily into Hollins to sign him as their coach or he'll be one of them, Adelman has retired (Wolves might be one of the teams that can finally seriously try and pry Sloan from retirement in an odd chance), I'd like to see one team or the Lakers try and get JVG from his commentating job I'd like that as a personal choice. There will be a number of coaches but a fair few teams looking for coaches potentially, I think if I had a top 3 in terms of realism it'd be JVG, Hollins and maybe Byron Scott (seems that's been mentioned a bit) although I'd personally like to see Avery Johnson in the mix too but he hasn't really been mentioned too much, he's been out for a long time as a coach but I think if JVG said he wanted the job it'd likely be his but he hasn't coached for what will soon be close to a decade/8 or so years time is ticking if he's ever going to come back in my opinion and getting less likely as time goes on.

Honestly.....might sound a lil crazy but I would of mind seeing what Mike D can do with a team put together for his type of system. Might not lead to a title to say but it would be fun to watch.

Last year was a throw away year....can not take anything from it.

But like other Laker fans I do feel like his system wore Kobe down the other year and lead to his injury. But then again we had a hurt Nash...hurt Dwight....hurt Gasol......that was a tough year and it was a miracle that we made the playoffs.

So honestly I am not on the boat when I think about of hating all things Pringles.

I really do not see any other coach coming in here and revamping this team.

There is none really... if they can find a high profile coach from the college ranks then maybe you go with him..

otherwise there's really nobody available that would be a head and shoulders improvement among the current crop of out of work journeymen coaches and there certainly isn't anyone that would have done much better with what D'Antoni had to work with the last two seasons...

Either way they have to see where they land in the draft before making the decision... that could very well influence a prospective coach.

Who would you pick if all of them (coaches) are available?

Of all coaches do you mean semi retired with little to no chance realistically? If so I've said it a lot Sloan I'd pick in a landslide, if not and only those that are legitimate possibilities I'd be most happy with hollins or Jeff van gundy with avery Johnson after that (on phone apologies for improper grammar too much hassle)

Even though none of my teams are in the playoffs, this really has been on of the best first rounds ever. The matchups are so tight, and the series are close. They've been exciting games to watch.

Absolutely. It probably is the best first-round in the last 10 years imo.

Im a fan of Jeff Van Gundy and I know he is pretty happy working for ESPN but I really think with persuasion and...money that the Lakers can pay him.. , I think with a healthy Kobe and high draft pick and smart acquisition/ moves made ala Dallas who didn't quit after failing to get Deron Williams and Dwight, I think the Lakers would atleast compete.
My coworker also sold me on George Karl. Yes, he hasn't won it all but when was the last time this guy had done badly the last 8-10 years as a a coach?

Again, I have not seen him do badly for so MANY years as a coach. With and without Carmelo, after Gary Payton etc.
The last time he had a losing season? 1988!
Heck even his tenure with the Bucks, his team was pretty good with and without Ray Allen.
Yes, his playoff record is not great but he also ran into Jordan, Boston era, then the Lakers/Spurs etc in the West again with....? ok players.

I think he's meaning he just doesn't want another coach that isn't that great defensively? (Sorry can't quote both haha), Karl is a good coach in my opinion but I think after D'Antoni lacking defense I think he means he'd want someone this time who is a defensive specialist which Karl is okay at as far as I've seen not a defensive specialist coach but an okay one at least some attention to it? Or he could be saying no way because Karl likes having an athletic team like in Denver/if he can be adaptable enough.

I hate that we can't multi-quote on this board. It would help the conversations. You are correct though. It's not that I think he's a bad coach. I think he's fine. I'm not good with another selection that would just be decent. Karl doesn't coach defense. I feel like a few of those years in Denver he had the best lineup in the Western Conference and they didn't do much with it. He's a high tempo offense guy with little care for defense. I don't see how that wins championships. I think Karls system is more geared towards winning regular season games.
