    1) 49-10-4 v.s. Denver WCF (2009)
    2) 45-10-3 v.s. Spurs WCF (2001) docked for being w/ Shaq
    3) 48-16-3 v.s. Sacramento WCF (2002) docked for being w/ Shaq
    4) 40-8-8 v.s. Orlando Finals (2009) docked for terrible Finals opponent
    5) 50-8-5 v.s. Phoenix (2006) Suns didn't play defense
Orlando wasn't a bad finals opponent, they demolished a great cavaliers team with Bron playing best basketball of his career.
And why would he be docked for playing with shaq? If anything, it makes these performances only more impressive as it's harder to score for him with shaq clogging the lanes

To me, the reason Kobe doesn't have that many of those OUTRAGEOUS stats games in the playoffs, is because those games usually occur at a players peak.

You give Kobe a good team and 3-4 playoff rounds in 06 and 07, and you most likely see games that could compare to MJ's best playoff games in 1991, 1992 and 1993.

In 2009 and 2010, Kobe's best playoff games looked a lot like Mj's best Playoff games during his second run (96-98).

2008 was really a taste of what we missed in 2006-07.

so youre saying the reason kobe hasnt put up beast stats in the PO is because he missed the PO or got sent home in the first round, during his peak?

    i concur

A great Cleveland team? Mo Williams was their second best player, and didn't even bother showing up in the Conference Finals.

The very next season the Celtics with KG at 75% of what he was in 2008, and 2009 pre injury took a SUPERIOR 2010 Lakers team 7 games in the Finals.

The best team in the league in 2009, and the real great threat out East was the Celtics prior to KG's injury. They were destroying everyone that season.

Cleveland would've given the Lakers more trouble that season than the Magic did, but LeBron simply had no supplemental help. He carried some very average talent in 2009 and 2010 to 60+ wins. Fools gold for their quality as a unit.

Shaq clogging the lanes? Kobe's a primary jump shooter. Shaq being on the floor alone helps Kobe. He was playing with a superior force who drew more focus from the defense. That absolutely docks the performance a tad. Not saying it alters it, they were still impressive performances.

Even those weren't '90 - '93 playoff MJ esque. In 2006, and 2007 in the first round against a team whose entire philosophy wasn't to play defense and Kobe didn't put up crazy numbers.

In 2006, Phil asked Kobe to be a decoy on the offense, while trying to make Kwame Brown and lamar Odom beat the Suns.

When the Suns adjusted and Kobe had to go on the attack, he immediately had his best scoring ever in the playoffs (and was one Kwame brainfart away from the second round).

Kobe has 3 games against the Spurs better than that game.

Williams played fine, he's not gonna average 20+ ppg when LeBron was averaging almost 40, there's just so many shots you can spread through a team.
09 and 10 Lakers are very similar in strength, especially considering Kobe was playing with a broken index finger and a ****ed up knee in 10. I'd also say Gasol was a far better defender in 09.
2010 Cavs team are one of the best rosters of last 20 years considering what everybody brought to the table, it was a perfect fit for LeBron, it's a shame he underperformed and quit on the team, we never got the lebron vs. kobe finals we all wanted.

Obviously Kobe was primarly a jump shooter when the lanes are clogged, he was let loose in 05-08 and he mainly drove to the basket. If you remember, when Shaq would be taken out of games during the three peat era, Kobe focused on driving to the basket much much more.

He had Kobe play facilitator like their version of Nash through the first 5 games, which was effective until Kobe's teammates true level of talent came through letting Phoenix back into the series.

The difference being is Kobe still could've scored high volume and done what Phil asked. Or maybe he couldn't? Too often in his career Kobe gets so narrow minded and regements himself to playing only a certain way.

Then he scored 50 in game 6, impressively so. Even though as I said against a team that literally didn't play defense. Scored 20 some odd points in the first half of game 7. Then pouted the second half.

Kobe has never been great with just adapting, and playing the flow of the game. He premeditates how he's going to play.

It's either extreme scoring, or extreme facilitating. It's no surprise his best individual season, and MVP season came when he finally found a balance in his game, as well as leadership approach. 2008.

Not when he plays on good teams.
