Why doesnt Giannis do 3 point layups?
Hes obviously athletic enough to jump from behind the 3 point line and get close enough to lay it up and it would count as 3 points because both feet were behind the line... why doesn't he do it?

Definitely a smart idea. Unfortunately these things called "defenders" exist, getting in his way and preventing him from having wide open layups from the 3PT line.

My go-to move is leaping from halfcourt and floating in for a layup

Re: Why doesnt Giannis do 3 point layups?
Im surprised nobody did it in an all star game. You see floaters like this at times. Nate robinson had a big game tying shot for the Bulls in the playoffs where his back foot was on the line for a floater. Few more inches its a game winning 3.
Giannis could easily take off from 25 feet and shoot a 10 footer.....thats just the distance of the Ft line to the basket. He could probably go from 25 to 8...but it would be such an unusual motion. And the injury risk would be there. You would need to be wiiiiiiiiiiiiide open with a clear path to do it with any kinda forethought. In that situation? Just lay it in normally. Good shooters can make a three point shot that wide open at 50-60% in a game. Not worth the risk of a wild 16 glide into a floater.
In an all star game? Yes. Totally worth it.

Re: Why doesnt Giannis do 3 point layups?
It's possible but it would only be feasible on a breakaway attempt. On breakaway, a sure dunk should result in 2 points ~100% of the time while you have to be better than 67% on these 3pt floaters. It's not worth it. As a fun move in the all star game, it's fine though.

Re: Why doesnt Giannis do 3 point layups?
Ive seen someone do them in practice just messing around but im not sure who it was. It was someone short. Im not sure it wasnt Nate Robinson. I'll try to find it later....but it was straight up 3 point floaters where hed take off and shoot it inside the line. Not the ft line...just...inside the 3 point line.
I really think it may have been Nate working out with Isiah Thomas in some old workout footage I have....

It sounds possible if it is tried in a fast break and the lay up is a teardrop.

Because they can't do it.

Re: Why doesnt Giannis do 3 point layups?
Well for one does Gianni even have a good floater? He seems like a dunk or layup guy... Second its probably a huge injury risk... Hanging in the air that long a defender can easily slip under you as you're vulnerable. Third its only possible on a fastbreak when a running start is available
