Here's my take, based on my observation of Shumpert vs. Waiters guarding the player I watch most:

Wade can torch Shump. On the other hand, Waiters shut Wade down in the second half on Christmas. He's the only player since LeBron left who I've seen make Wade look old. Hell, even with no lift, Wade abuses the vaunted Tony Allen. But, Waiters was ripping him, blocking his shot and just plain stopping him.

So, I see this at best as a lateral move for the Cavs. They get an upgrade at starting SG, but an overrated defender and they lose Waiters' instant offense off the bench (would you really have J.R. Smith as 6th man lmao?). Waiters was on a run for a while and absolutely helped the Cavs win some games. They'd be sub-500 without him.

The Cavs didn't do anything to address their biggest need: the middle. I'd say OKC won this deal, no matter how desperately ESPN is trying to spin it.
