or are you saying Mike Brown was better?
No, he just doesnt know how to play Lebron or Wade or Bosh together.
These 3 players need an official role and they need it fast, its coachs job to tell them what he wants and how this team should be run.

That would have been awesome if Beasley could get his act together. And even if he didn't, role players like Mike Miller, etc would make that team a serious contender.

Why don't they trade one of the 'Big' 3. They are in desperate need for a center. We would gladly trade you Bynum for Lebron. It works out for everybody.

Coach Spolestra needs to begin to face the facts that the starting line up he walks out every night is not working. The Miami Heat are basically playing five on three basketball because of just how inept Carlos Arroyo and Joel Anthony are on the offensive and defensive side. They have become liabilities rather than beneficiaries and are only hurting the team.

Opposing defenders can look off Arroyo and Anthony on offense and instead focus their attention on the big three who command most of the scoring. The fact that Anthony commands little attention on offense is a problem for the Heat whose two best players thrive on driving. With opposing centers able to leave Anthony to focus on Wade or James, it limits their ability to drive and they are forced into jump shots that they would rather not take.

A confusing predicament for the Heat has been the situation at the point guard spot. Despite Carlos Arroyo being named the point guard in the starting lineup, within minutes it is either Wade or James taking the ball up court while Arroyo plays the role of stiff. The fact that the team abandons Arroyo as the point guard completely defeats the purpose of having him on the same court amongst the big three.

Following the loss to Boston, coach Spo came out and said that there just actually might be starting lineup changes as soon as tonight's game against the Toronto Raptors. With a less than stellar schedule on tap for the next few weeks, the Heat will be able to work on their starting lineup with plenty of room for errors. A number of line up's have been proposed amongst the Heat community with the most interesting one being James at point, Wade at shooting guard, Bosh at small forward, Haslem at power forward, and Ilgauskas at center.

Probably the most stable lineup would be having James run the point, Wade at shooting guard, James Jones at small forward, Bosh at power forward, and Ilgauskas at center. With James at point, the Heat have a mismatch over opposing point guards, they also receive a capable three-point shooter in the starting lineup in Jones who is averaging 50% from beyond the arc, and they also have Ilgauskas who can stretch out offenses and pose as another scoring threat.

Have either Wade or LeBron come off the bench. Then you have a superstar player on the court at pretty much all times, without either cramping the other's style. LeBron can a ball dominant point off the bench.

Might as well try it. Mavs look very good this year though, Chandler is huge in the middle.

Get rid of Spo, get Riley in there, and stop running that slow ass offense. Start running like players of their athleticism and skill should and quite a few of their problems will be solved. It may not be Showtime but it certainly would be better than the crap they're doing now. (Although LeBron thrives in it of course.) Wade also has to step up and return to his former form. It's just not acceptable for a player of his caliber to have games of going 1 for 12 and 1 for 13 an so on. I believe once Mike Miller comes back, Chalmers gets the minutes he deserves, and Riley assumes control, that everything will finally come together.

Spoelstra should throw everyone for a loop and quit!! How would that go over?

He'd say all the right things, but then it would leak he quit because these prima donnas won't do the work. I think it could be a shrewd move for him. He'd get another job somewhere else, instead of continually being royally embarassed by this situation.

Another problem is that Lebron, Wade are confused to how they should play offensively, they need an official role and Spoelstra is unable to show the correct path, he just doesnt know how to make them complement eachother. Spoelstra said he doesnt want to change anything in their game compared to how they played to like last season for example. Instead he wants them to just... "share". This means they have to share everything, i call it "my turn, your turn" offense. There is to much "sharing" of everything going on offensively to the point where they become detrimental, most important problem is that they are not complementing eachother this way at all by "sharing" duties.... because it only becomes a confusing "my turn, your turn" offense where the other guy becomes just a statue, they shut eachother of! They dont even have a single two man play between them, everything is just a pick & roll/pop with Bosh or kickout to one of the open shooters (Arroyo, Wade, Lebron, really? spotup shooters? yes really.)
They have to be forced to complement eachother and i dont think Spoelstra has IT or the coyones to show them the way and make them trust him and respect him, Spoelstra is not the Coach for this kindof team. They have all the skills to complement eachother but Spoelstras inability to show them how or maybe fear of showing/ordering them how is hurting this team.

the thing that might cause tension is that wade actually likes spo. at least he's said so multiple times...i don't know if he's paid lip service or riley said to give him a chance but it's worth mentioning.

overall, a really bad trend i notice with miami is if there not playing good offensively, they get lax on D. when your shot isn't falling, great players contribute through rebounds, defense, etc. the hustle plays are just not there. wade's mid-range sucks and he's not slashing with the same body control as last season. lebron can't hit 3's as well and stands around when he doesn't have the ball. where are the chasedown blocks? there's more issues to this than just coaching.

But remember now, he was supposed to be the coach of the impending Heat championship dynasty, that was supposed to start last year.

This thread was in 2010, and Spoelstra lasted to 2021 and still going. He has reached a stage, where he can suck so bad but still won't be evaluated for his job...
He stuck his ass to that Heat coaching seat with glue, and nothing will remove it.
