Default Why Are the Spurs Letting Parker Compete in International Ball?

    ...if he's injured?

They wouldn't let Manu go in 2013 because of injury. How is this any different?

Shouldn't it be in the Spurs section?

Because anybody who bans people from representing their country is a biatch.

I'm not really sure what to think.

Was Parker really injured? Or was he just 15 pounds overweight, and unmotivated because of 14?

Is he going to be playing through injury with France which likely would hurt his performance for the Spurs even more?

Are the Spurs letting him play for France to keep him in shape, as he didn't compete last year and we all know what kind of condition he returned in?

This is all just very weird. He didn't look especially hobbled last season, but Parker himself said he was dealing with lots of injuries (and Pop said he was "fine").

Surely rest is what he needs, then?

He isn't the winner that our GOAT is. He doesn't have the mentality. He needs to play significantly less minutes next season or retire.

I've always thought that of all the classic Spurs players, Parker was the one to buy into the whole Spurs lifestyle the least. I remember hearing somewhere that he really enjoyed the spotlight, and that goes along with him being involved with high-profile celebrities/women etc. While guys like Duncan and Manu practically live with an organization-first mentality, Parker seems to put himself first in some situations (i.e. his last contract negotiation)

Spurs are afraid of the French.

Because he's not their slave and all basketball players have "love of the game" clause in their contract.

Now if he were skydiving or riding motorcycles, or something that risks his life, they could probably void his contract.

A basketball ball wanting to play basketball, how shocking.

They cared about Manu in 2013. They don't care what happens to Parker since everyone can see he's no longer good.

They politely asked Manu to not play. They couldn't have stopped him if he wanted to play.

Here's a video that perfectly describes the way I feel about Tony Parker right now
