Default MJ vs Gregg Popovich's Spurs (Tim Duncan and D-Rob)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQePkBnD0vo

lol at 35 y/o Mike winning the jump ball from David midway through the vid. Dude finished with 30 points including timely clutch plays over the twin towers. What's fascinating about this matchup though is that it makes you kinda think about the oldschool Bulls and how they played the game. So methodical and poised. Imagine them playing in today's league, and seeing MJ just tool these "defenses". Hah

This is what Jordan had to say about Tim's first game (Nov 3, 1997) vs Bulls. The youtube was their 2nd game.

In a game against Michael Jordan's championship Chicago Bulls, Tim and David fought the championship team every step of the way, forcing the game into not one but two overtime periods before eventually losing by just four points. Tim matched Bulls' top-notch defender Dennis Rodman rebound for rebound, for a total of twenty-two and whenever he wasn't there, David Robinson was. "We had to shoot jump-shots," Jordan said after the game, explaining the challenge he and his teammates had faced. "And believe me, I tried to get to the basket. But with those Twin Towers sitting in the middle, it was tough."

And still made those tough shots.

Don't get it twisted. I got respect for Pop and the Spurs, Timmy too. Jordan just picked them apart in this game. Take a look at the last several possessions of the video. Dude literally takes over.

No defense is going to stop Jordan. That's why he's the G.O.A.T. I've saw games where Jordan made circus shot after circus shot with ease. It was like this guy just created a custom shot in a split second to counter whatever the defense had thrown at him.

But yeah, Jordan in today's NBA would be like a kid in a candy factory. He'll be like, "Wow! It's this easy?"

    He's a snake.

MJ just slithers his way around like very few... if ever.

    MJ vs Robinson's* Spurs, tbh.

Jordan is the GOAT for a reason though.

Perfect example of this type of slitheryness/fluidity:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhEW2RM82gY#t=3m59s

He just zigs and zags and hop steps and footworks his way through scads of defenders. Like a mouse in a maze. Amazing that someone can do that at age 34 (or any age). The GOAT.

In a different thread they're talking bout the 'perfect body'.

Bron could never do shit like this. He doesn't have the same fluidity and agility to pull this off.

This was after D-Rob had a career altering back injury.

David Robinson being injured in the 96-97 season was a blessing in disguise because if it weren't for his injury, the Spurs wouldn't have got Duncan. Duncan would probably be playing for the Boston Celtics or the 76ers instead.

Wouldn't be in San Antonio right now if not for that injury.

Here are two dunks by MJ over Duncan from the game on November 3, 1997 - in the comments you reference, he was just managing his image by appearing gracious after grinding out a tough win despite a bad shooting night - standard stuff for pro athletes.

Sick video but I kind of wish it included some Spurs highlights. Would make the double OT thing seem more meaningful and epic.
