    When the NBA went back to the 2-3-2 format, then the team with HCA needs to win the first 2 in order to keep HCA. If you split as the home team, then the series becomes the best of 5 with the next 3 being played on the road. If you don't win one of those then you're S.O.L and watching them celebrate on their home floor.

    edit: The again, that's the same scenario in a sense where in 2012 OKC and Miami split the first 2 at OKC and Miami won the next 3 at home for the title.

    In 2013 though, most money would have been put on the Spurs with the first 3 games at SA in which it became a 5 game series.
