Uh Oh: More Morey Fallout

"The losses have already been substantial," Silver said at the Time 100 Summit, in his first public comments about the NBA's relationship with China since he returned to the U.S. from China earlier this week. "Our games are not back on the air in China as we speak, and we'll see what happens next.
"I don't know where we go from here. The financial consequences have been and may continue to be fairly dramatic."
"Maybe I was trying too hard to be a diplomat," Silver said. "I didn't see it as my role as the commissioner of the NBA to weigh in on the substance of the protest."
Beal was smart to sign that contract now before the salary cap next year...

Re: Uh Oh: More Morey Fallout
It's weird that HKers are thanking Daryl Morey.
He deleted his tweet IMMEDIATELY upon realizing the hand that feeds him wasn't pleased.
That's literally no different than Lebron pointing out that China is part of the hand that feeds the NBA.
Morey completely punked out and he's being made a hero for it!??

I guess HK people are not braindead automatrons like mainlanders, so they realize Morey had his heart and morals in the right place.

I disagree with that. I think he was forced to delete like everyone else is. Cuz I mean deleting a tweet means nothing. It doesn't make shit go away. It's not like taking back what you said. Someone was prol like DELETE THAT SHIT BRUH.
As for Silver, heh, yea the NBa is gonna falter w/o gyna. At the end of the world, there will be Bradley Beal.

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...y-firing-tweet
The rift between the NBA and China appeared to widen again Friday, as the fallout continued over Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey's tweet in support of anti-government protesters in Hong Kong.
A day after NBA commissioner Adam Silver said Chinese officials wanted Morey fired, a spokesman for China's foreign ministry told reporters that no such demand was made by the government there. That becomes the latest chapter in the two-week-old saga over Morey's tweet, which was quickly deleted but has led to considerable damage to the long relationship between the NBA and China.
