Pelicans: Starting point guard Elfrid Payton left the game with a sprained right ankle early in the third quarter. ... Reserve forward Darius Miller did not play after leaving Friday night's game against Brooklyn with a thigh bruise. ... Second-year pro Frank Jackson, a high-second-round draft pick in 2017 who sat out his rookie season with injuries, scored a career-high 14 points in 23 minutes. ... Jahlil Okafor scored 11 points in 14 minutes. ... New Orleans went 3-1 during its four-game home stand and now leaves for a nine-day, five-game road trip against Western Conference teams.
could have used Miller too. They looked like the Jazz do without Gobert

First tie seeing local player Jackson. Been hearing about him since 9th grade when he committed to BYU

The Utah Jazz had a very strong outing in their win Saturday night against the New Orleans Pelicans. Ricky Rubio and Rudy Gobert came up big for the team. I expect that they will continue to produce consistently for Coach Snyder. Today (Sunday) at 5 pm MST the Jazz will be in Dallas to take on the Mavericks.
Odds aren't good on Ricky being consistent unless you're talking of him consistently playing behind his man, throwing crazy passes, throwing up bricks and flopping.

Burks questionable. I think he'll be out of the rotation with Thabo back anyway. Makes the most sense with Snyder's thinking. But maybe there will be a platoon?

[QUOTE]Derrick Favors has been averaging 10 points and 7 rebounds a game for the Utah Jazz. This most certainly will mean that Jae Crowder will start in place of the injured Favors. While this may seem like it opens more minutes for Crowder

A few hours before the game, Derrick Favors was ruled out due to a left knee injury. In his place came Jae Crowder. Most injuries to a team’s starting player may make a matchup for favorable for the opposition, unfortunately, for Dallas, that’s not the case for Utah. The Rubio, Mitchell, Ingles, Crowder, and Gobert lineup is Utah’s best lineup. Starting in place for Favors, Jae allowed Gobert to feast inside. Crowder finished with 15 points.
The best line-up but doesn't start.

This win may have come with a big cost, however, as Jae Crowder sprained his ankle as Harrison Barnes undercut him on three with 1 minute remaining in the game. Luckily for Utah, the ankle sprain looked a lot worse than it was as x-rays came up negative and Jae is now day to day with a grade 1 ankle sprain.
Good news. Might have to play the pot smoker?

On top of those numbers, Rudy is putting up a stat line of 13.5 rebounds per game, 1.5 steals per game, and 2.7 blocks per game. To put it shortly, Rudy “eats freaking with humans”. Rudy has my vote for all-star this season.
They will get two all-stars since this is Mitchell's team?

Grayson Allen made an appearance tonight and had some key plays in the third quarter to help stifle one of Dallas’ runs. Every time Grayson shoots it looks like it is going in. That is a very good sign for his future with this team, and when his defense has improved enough to gain coach Quin Snyder’s approval, the league better watch out. We’ve got another sharpshooter in the making.
He went to Duke. He'll play regardless

We all got a scare when Exum went down after being tied up mid-air in a play that probably should have been counted as some sort of flagrant foul. Luckily he got right up and brushed the fall off. Exum has had good games and not so good games, but overall is looking fantastic. He is learning how to use his speed and athleticism to create plays for himself and his teammates. Dante is really starting to look like he’s gaining a feel for the game. That is one thing that injuries prevented him from doing over the past few years. Dante’s defense is always fantastic. He sticks to his man like glue, and is great at contesting with his long arms. I would like to see him get a few more blocks, as he is only averaging 0.3 per game. With his size advantage over other guards, I hope he is able to convert a few more of his contested shots into blocked shots.
He mostly sucks. Not sure how anyone could watch and think otherwise. Neto is better than him and Rubio who again sucked as well. They will never go anywhere with those guys and Favors

Moving on down the line, Donovan is officially here. Mitchell along with Ricky Rubio have been on an almost parallel path to start the season. Both had a slow first few games, due to an issue of forcing up difficult shots rather than taking what would come to them. Both have figured out this issue in unison. While Ricky may not have scored many points this game, he had 8 assists with only 1 turnover, and hit the shots that mattered. Donovan had a middling night, scoring relatively well, but turning the ball over 5 times to his 4 assists. Although both Donovan and Ricky have things figured out, there will still be the ups and downs of a regular season. Hopefully, they continue to bounce back just as quickly in the future.
    Ricky has figured it out?

Someone please make a Knights of Niang meme. Dude is legit. Didn’t see that coming.

Exum is not better than Rubio but he’s better than many on this board will acknowledge. That dunk shoulda been an and-1. If he makes those layups . . .

Mitchell with 20, ho hum

And I have to credit Deandre. Not for the 19 reb or 9 ast (waat?) but for the 4/4 ft. He is now 26/30 on the year. Props to him for putting in the work. Hackajordan is finally dead.

Anyone that saw the Stars isn't suprised with Niang. He's the most skilled player on the team. Only question I had was defense and he seems to making plays at that end as well

    Of course
But I also want us to be at our best and contend for a championship. I believe we have the players to do that.

The team isn't winning a title with Exum or Rubio or Favors

People will always doubt him and Chuck will always be there to defend him. Cause and effect around here lol
I’m in the exum camp so I sympathize with Capn (within reason) when it comes to exum.

Everyone deep down knows exum is the key to our hearts and dreams. They are just slow to accept it. Let that magical unicorn horn dust wash over you as he blows by his defender for an easy layup. Dmx is here and it’s for real

People won't doubt him if he proves himself. I've given him credit the couple games he hasn't sucked.

The day Exum relegates Rubio to the bench
Will be a great day for the jazz, because it will mean Exum has improved a lot.

I don’t think that day has arrived yet. And when it comes I hope it’s because Exum improved, not because of a decline of Rubio

Posted by emirvisir on Oct 29, 2018 | 1:56 AM
More likely it will the Jazz not wanting to pay Rubio

He’s got some hops. If this team finishes top 3 or 4 in the West I think you have to consider him as an mvp candidate. If we are 1 or 2 he may even get it. I think he can average between 15-20 per night. The defense will stabilize eventually and be very good again. His impact to our team is nearly unmatched. You have to go find LeBron or AD if you want to compare.

Does anyone here think he’s reached his potential? I don’t. That’s scary. He’s still so young and has so much time left to get better and better. He will add a shot and or better post moves inthe next two seasons. He will get even better at what he’s already elite at. His body can keep getting better.

This team could hold it down for like 5 to 6 more years. With Lindsey managing maybe even see another 20 year playoff run again lol

How could he be the MVP on Donovan's team?

He's going to want to leave if he's smart in a couple of years.
