Which is ridiculously false. A few expirers and a draft pick will net you an all star in the right cases. We saw it twice last year, and we've seen it over the years many times. Not to mention when an all star caliber player makes it clear he's going to leave, his value drops real fast in the trade market.
Or the Cavs could trade for no one and use the cap money to sign someone. We had 15 mil to spend on Larry Hughes, I'm sure we can come up with that much for someone of quality.
IIRC the following guys are all unrestricted free agents or have player options next year:
Allen Iverson
Rasheed Wallace
Kobe Bryant
Jason Kidd
Eddy Curry
Hedo Turkoglu
Andre Miller
Steve Nash
Steve Francis
Ron Artest
Mike Bibby
Carlos Boozer
Mehmet Okur
Mathius

Nets fan 93 has officially become the most annoying poster on the board. Congratulations on that. You know a franchise is pathetic when all a fan can do is cross his fingers and hope for 2010.
Loser.

dude u don't realize how many posts u make desperate that lebron will stay in 2010.
u should just start the acceptance process a guy whos commited to his hometown team doesnt announce his favorite burrough is brooklyn and his favorite city is NY
he wants to be the worlds first sports billionaire u think he has a chance of that in cleveland? no.

Re: Can Lebron opt out before 2010?
must stay until at least the 2010 offseason. he can opt out or choose to play for one more season.
kind of convenient as the Nets new Barclay's Center was slated for a 2010 opening, but because of the shaky economy, may be pushed back to 2011. besides, there's no way that Lebron is playing in East Rutherford.

Re: Can Lebron opt out before 2010?
I thought the last year on a rookie contract was a team option.
